Re: Is a new Behringer X-touch coming ?

I think that you only get the coloured scribble strips when using the X-touch with the XR18 or other Behringer/Midas digital mixers. Mine certainly only has monochrome when using with Reaper, despite having the channels colour coded in the DAW. I use a remote script with Cubase that supports the X ...

Re: Audiobook recording levels

Not audiobooks, but I’ve done all the audios of a well being app (“connect with your breath”. All those things). Just spoken words, very quiet background music and eventual “gongs”. Recording wise, nothing different to what I would normally do for any other application. -12 peak is what I do too. Jus ...

Re: Best mics to capture punch

guitar amps are not really that picky for mics. you can get awesome (and punchy!) results even with cheap mics. your quest shouldn't be about getting a new mic, but about knowing your current set up: - have you tried changing the placement of the mic? even the slightest movement can alter the sound ...

There is now, yes, and I have it, but at the time of the post, there wasn't... (The UADx native version was ported and released about four months after that post).

Re: Best DBX 160 plugin?

No, I kinda mean 160VU, but also similar flavours, that's why I didn't specify it. Sorry, yes that's what I meant, not sure why I added the A. I have the UAD one and always liked it, but it's DSP-only so I'm hoping they port it to native. The Arturia one is a different model by the looks (165A ...

Re: Noise cancelling headphones... but!

My Sony whxxxwhatever-4 noise cancelling earbuds do an amazing job and sound great. However if the noise she wants to cancel is of a sudden nature (like a rapper singing), noise cancelling processing may not be quick enough to catch it. You’ll have to go to good (and expensive) ones, which are more e ...

it does for me. I'm not relying solely on Sound ID of course. My room is treated. But the software helps.

The algorithms keep bombing me with advertisements of this brand.

anyone has any experience with them? If I have to trust their customers' reviews, they're the best mics ever

Re: USA Strat neck advice sought.

It’s repairable. Take it to the luthier and let him/her do his thing.

I assume you like the guitar and are happy with the neck. Get the truss rod repaired/replaced. It’s not the easiest repair, but any average luthier can do it.

Re: Pub Band - what's changed since 2020

I don't think people complained about stage level when Hendrix toured small UK venues in the 60's with a 100W MArshall  But that's because at the Hendrix gigs people were there specifically to see him (or at least one of the other bands on the bill) play live. The typical pub covers band are ...

Most importantly, I bet only one of them was killing the stage level and ripping the faces off the punters. 1st of all, I'm free of guilt as I always bring an attenuator to gigs. BUT stage level, and level in general  , has always been part of live music experience. From the moment you have a ...

That may also be because you’re comparing fried eggs with boiled eggs: they’re not the same meal despite both being eggs

Your amp sounds like an amp. Your modeler sound like a mic’d amp through monitors.

Re: Pub Band - what's changed since 2020

I'd say if you guys already have the gear keep with it. if you have to invest go for the wireless, in ear, tablet based, digital amp, etc.

apart of the benefits of reducing the overall weight of what you're carrying, once you get used to it it makes the job easier.
