Re: Quality of line out in load boxes (iron man mini 2 & suhr reactive load)
it's it not what he is measuring, mate. it is what he is comparing ;) he's taking the amp line out as reference, and then stacking the load box line out in fabfilter. Flat line only means both measurements are equal. but we are not seeing any of the actual responses. he does measure responses in ...

Re: Quality of line out in load boxes (iron man mini 2 & suhr reactive load)
So it's the amp signal going into the load box and the amp signal coming out? A view of the actual DI connection arrangement wouldn't have gone amiss there. you have the view in 3:25 amp signal coming out of the load box (to the speaker). in parallel, line out from the amp DI'd to the intereface ...

Re: Quality of line out in load boxes (iron man mini 2 & suhr reactive load)
check 2:40 and 3:35. his amp has an actual line out post power amp. the comparison is therefore before and after the load box.
flat line in fabfilter pro Q3 would mean both signals are similar and load box line out is "transparent"

Re: Quality of line out in load boxes (iron man mini 2 & suhr reactive load)
Hi There’s a lot of literature about load boxes impedance curves, and how the accuracy of these compared to a real speaker affects the low frequencies response. The Ironman fits in the not-so-accurate box ;-). Not bad when just attenuating as the amp still “sees” the real speaker, but as 100% load bo ...

Re: Monitors £500 absolute max, a tad less even better
If you’re open to 2nd hand, the old KrK S2 or VXT are found for [much] less than 500. I’ve got a pair of 8” at the recording room currently, and I used to mix at home with a pair of 6”. They would still be here if they wouldn’t be as prone to RF interferences (I live close to mobile antennas) RFI pr ...

Re: The Pultec rumble
I owned a pair of the Klark Teknik pultecs. they do the trick, but not better (IMO) than UAD or Noiseash pultec plugins. these are the 2 that I know best. Of course there are others. another device that does something similar to the lows (among other things) is the SoundSkulptor TS500 tape-ish ...

Re: Going loud and clean - Hotrod deluxe?
Modelers, IMO they are (finally) close to perfection. FRFR’s… I think FRFR’s have evolved a lot, but right when there’s no need anymore for FRFR. They made sense when modelers were not so flexible routing wise, and you had to use the same output for PA and monitoring. Also, these small, light class D ...

Re: Going loud and clean - Hotrod deluxe?
[ so it’s as much like the amp sounds as possible . ;) I would add, as possible 'for a frfr speaker'. There isn't that much difference apart from the crossover and the additional tweeter to a standard guitar speaker. For a truly FRFR speaker (and I'm not sure any are really 'flat response'), there w ...

Re: Going loud and clean - Hotrod deluxe?
So #ore-terra, we are not disagreeing here, I prefer to use my old school kit but for a dfx + FRFR system to sound as intended the amp and cab modelling needs to be active in the dfx unit. If you use a guitar amp rather than the FRFR then the modelling should be off for the system to perform as ...

Re: Going loud and clean - Hotrod deluxe?
[ so it’s as much like the amp sounds as possible . ;) I would add, as possible 'for a frfr spaker'. I've tried the tone master pro. I used to have the Friedman ASC. The Tonemaster is way better, as well as cheaper and much lighter. Yet not quite the same than a guitar cab. By far. I don't think w ...

Re: Going loud and clean - Hotrod deluxe?
FRFR cabs are not 'the same'. they do not sound like an amp, but like a mic'ed amp. they may be useful, but for devices such as the helix which is capable to disable the cab emulation from one output while keeping it for other outputs (to go to PA), I never understood the use of FRFR. I just don't ...

Re: Is a new Behringer X-touch coming ?
I think that you only get the coloured scribble strips when using the X-touch with the XR18 or other Behringer/Midas digital mixers. Mine certainly only has monochrome when using with Reaper, despite having the channels colour coded in the DAW. I use a remote script with Cubase that supports the X ...

Re: Best mics to capture punch
guitar amps are not really that picky for mics. you can get awesome (and punchy!) results even with cheap mics. your quest shouldn't be about getting a new mic, but about knowing your current set up: - have you tried changing the placement of the mic? even the slightest movement can alter the sound ...

No, I kinda mean 160VU, but also similar flavours, that's why I didn't specify it. Sorry, yes that's what I meant, not sure why I added the A. I have the UAD one and always liked it, but it's DSP-only so I'm hoping they port it to native. The Arturia one is a different model by the looks (165A ...

My Sony whxxxwhatever-4 noise cancelling earbuds do an amazing job and sound great.
