Re: Pro Tools Normalize Plugin for True Peak Setting?

Thanks, Wonks. Seems the normalize approach should be ok, but wanted to get a second opinion before going though the whole project.

As for the true peak level, would you be recommending the -6db? I've heard -3 to -6, figure I'd hit somewhere between.

Pro Tools Normalize Plugin for True Peak Setting?

Hello, SOS... I've got a really complex, 12-minute soundtrack project with a lot of tracks, all needing to be adjusted for headroom. Though not clipping, they were all recorded on the hot side and need to be tamed for mastering later. My research shows clip gain adjustment to be the best approach an...

Re: EQ Before Tracking?

Thanks for the quick responses. I do have suspicions about room resonance and can't say I've done the best job of tracking that down, but am in the process of setting up another room just for recording, so maybe that'll help. Like many of us these days, I spend a lot of time isolated in my own studi...

EQ Before Tracking?

Hello, SOS; I'm recording a Martin dreadnaught that tends to be heavily boomy, even with the mics focused on the 12th fret and angled away from the soundhole. The boominess happens around 196hz, broad enough that it's difficult to notch out with a single EQ band, but I'm getting there. My question i...

Monitor Calibration Question

I’m struggling with monitor calibration and need some direction. I’m using KRK Rokit-8 monitors that have a HF Adjust and LF Adjust on the back. Those adjustments have little effect on this issue I’m posting. I have a pink-noise track in Pro-Tools that gives an EQ reading of a normal, steady, slight...

Calibrating Studio Monitors

Monitors are intended to have a flat response. I need to analyze mine to know they're doing that. I'm using a couple of KRK Rokit8 monitors that are coming across as far more wooly and boxy in the bass and low-mids than seems they should. It isn't only my mix coming through this way, but any referen...

LaunchPad Pro Mapping & Pad Color Assignment Help Request

I've brought a LaunchPad Pro into the studio to be used strictly as a MIDI pad controller for a Superior Drummer plugin in Pro Tools. I've chosen the LaunchPad because of its number of pads—64—and have read it's capable of being used as a standalone controller outside its intended use with Ableton. ...
