Thanks for confirming, Hugh, and good point on them sliding off
I wish this wasn't the solution because I'll have to move some already-mounted panels to the new reflection points. Ugh. Life.
I've had to recently gut my studio setup and am now trying set things up properly with new equipment (e.g. moving to a single wide monitor and incorporating a laptop). I feel my studio monitors (Focal Shape 65's, 6.5in) are too close to my listening position, where I might as well just be wearing ...
I haven't heard of foam diffusers though, the point of diffuser is that the still reflect but break up (diffuse) the reflections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHTmNyo_0O0 There are foam panels with diffusing "shapes" on the surface, but I see how a foam diffuser wouldn't work! Do you think a ...
Remember that too much HF absorption will make the room sound dull or boxy so don't overdo it (diffusers are useful to prevent this, you bookshelf will work as one for starters). Thanks, Sam. I left about 15in of bare wall between each cloud shown and have yet to do anything with the space on the ...
As Sam says, spacing the panels off the walls will extend their low end usefulness (same applies to the 4" panels). I can't see a door on the diagram but, if it's not in the way, you may be better off putting panels across the rear corners. Yeah, I actually do have the 4in clouds and wall panels ...
Why do you want thinner panels? Purely for cosmetic and space-saving reasons. 2in isn't necessity though, so I'll just keep things going with 4in thick. It's probably also worth mentioned I have all the 4in panels about 2in from the wall. Also looking at your plan you should already be hearing a ...
Here is the layout of my room. The ceilings are 7.5ft high. The treatment in red is already completed (or soon to be completed). The red panels are 4in-thick 4.0pcf Thermalfiber safing mineral wool. What I'm wondering is this: would there be an issue in using 2in thick panels (shown in green ...
Any harm then in treating the room as well as I can and leaving the filters at 0? It almost seems better to leave them off and just be aware of the room deficiencies when mixing. FWIW, I do use ARC2 software to check against (I don't keep it on all the time).
How exactly should one use the frequency filters on monitors? I have the Shape 65's, and have left all the filters at 0, preferring not to touch them. It seems like the only correct way would be to analyze the room and determine nodes and antinodes and adjust the filters to account for these ...
I just received a pair of Focal Shape 65's, which have a passive radiator on each side of the speaker. I use two computer screens side-by-side and set a speaker the speakers on each end of the screens. However, this causes the side radiators pointed inwards to be covered from listener's view by the ...
