Re: Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

Ok, I had to solve it by cutting the ground on the cable (marked with a warning!) I opened the speaker up, checked the ground in every place I could think of checking, all fine. Then opened the other working speaker, and did the same. Can't see or test any obvious differences but obviously there is ...

Re: Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

Serial numbers are 4 apart ;) I'll take a look myself at the internals (I'm FAR from an expert but I've resorted vintage equipment before so ok to check for something simple like loose grounding). But if that isn't it, I'll probably go down the route of just hacking the cable. I'll report back. Than...

Re: Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

In that case it's very odd that one speaker is picking up ground noise and not the other one. I'm a bit confused with all your swapping, but if your tests confirm the 'ground noise' always stays with one particular speaker regardless of the mixer output, different cables etc... then you have a faul...

Re: Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

I just double checked the earth on the pc and that is fine (carefully unscrewed the IEC socket, plugged in the power and use a multimeter).

Re: Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

Here's a recording To confuse things, I've swapped the speakers around physically, so it's now the 'right' speaker making the noise. This is the left speaker - https://workdrive.zohopublic.eu/file/4jl1ge618a1334ad9454a9f0e7f3fa45b0f41" target="phpbbpopup The is the right speaker - https://...

Re: Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

Thanks. I'll give that a try in a bit and report back. My previous AI was a Rubix 24 (which I still have) and that has a ground lift switch on it. Something like that to disconnect the ground from x32 to the pc (via the usb cable) would be good. But yes maybe it's the speaker itself. Fairly new thou...

Re: Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

Yes, well, I swapped the cable from left to right, and right to left, and same problem with left speaker. and I also left the same cables in but changed them from l to r and r to l on the mixer, and same problem.

Noise on one speaker from X32 Compact to pc USB connection?!

Hi all, When my X32 Compact is connected to my PC (a hackintosh) using the USB cable to the 32/32 sound card, I get some noise in the left speaker. I've tried various things including but maybe not limited to: Checking the ground on the cables using a multimeter Reversing all the plugs (it's in Spai...

I saw the Beyer M201 mentioned. Be aware that the M201 is very gain-thirsty. Not a huge problem, but best to be informed.

It's an sm7b - so same problem, but I'm using a fethead which makes a huge difference.

Re: High noise, low signal on NTG4+ - would a mixer help?

Just a follow on to this thread. New mic, new desk (X32 Compact). Happy camper. Here's a couple of test files. Both have compression and EQ on (needs work ;) ) and one has a gate and one doesn't. Here's a test with a gate on - https://workdrive.zohopublic.eu/file/4hb7oafd4e2c6105d49f2bd41a1ef5de939d...
