Re: Behringer umc1820 v Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2ndGen

Ive had the Behringer 1820 for a few years now, used on W7/W10/W11 for synthesizers @ 96k. I bought it as it was 1/2 the price of the Focusrite equivilent for very little difference in quality. The current PC Behringer drivers are V5.57 from last year [W11 update I think] There was a good drum shoot...

Re: Microphones for Sampling

That is sound advice from James. I record using a hand held & then edit to actual formatted samples on a PC later. The Zoom H4n can handle 140db max which is pretty good if you are bashing things for percussive samples. If you want to sample quiet things, then you need to look at the other end o...

There are ranking lists for DPC latency on the web, eg https://www.notebookcheck.net/DPC-Latency-Ranking-Which-laptops-and-Windows-tablets-offer-the-lowest-latency.504376.0.html I dont know if that's uptodate. Looks like DPC varies very much on a model basis as a series like "HP Pavillion"...

Re: Are you TONE DEAF or MUSICALLY GIFTED?

Another question that puzzles me relates to rhythm. Cakewalk { DAW } does "Export to ASCII TAB" which will produce a text file from MIDI input. MIDI can be 1 channel or channel per string, selected in "Regenerate Tablature". Not somthing I use, as piano roll is my thing. picked, then strummed... E ------|------|-----------3-|-----...

Re: Any synth that really sounds different

I sold my FS1r and bought a MODX. The MODX/Montage do a lot of what the FS1r can do but does it with a 7" touch screen, easy sequencing and more polyphony. Also included is an AWM2, sample playback, synth engine.

Re: Effectively Testing Out Ideas

The other thing to be aware of is that round-wound strings will eat your bow. The horse hairs will get trapped in the string and snap regularly. true for cymbals too, maybe all metal things that are slightly rough.
