Re: Sine wave software for Mac

Okay, but asking for software that generates a sine wave is assuming that the output is digital. And apps can only perform operations on digital signals. But yes, if it's to be converted to analog, and then back to digital for some reason, then yes, the clock comes into play

Re: Sine wave software for Mac

It may not be relevant to the coder but it is relevant to the overall system. How so? Unless I'm missing something. Say i'm generating a .wav file that's 44100 hz. I calculate a five sample signal - for n=0 to 4 signal[n] = sin(2*pi*n*f/44100); end and then I write signal to an audio file. The ...

Re: Sine wave software for Mac

Of course they are also relying on the audio clock being that accurate - I wouldn't take that as given unless it is synchronised to a very accurate source. You are correct that coding is the best way. In C/C++ for example, the sin() function takes an angle (radians) argument that is float, double ...

Re: Time-Frequency plots

I highly recommend Praat, which is free, and is popular in academia for analyzing speech (not so much singing, but it can be used for it as well). I used it myself in graduate school. Don't be fooled by the simple website; it's a pretty powerful tool.

Re: Amp midi help!

How are you getting MIDI from the PC to the Boss switcher? Have you got an audio interface with hardware MIDI outputs, or a USB cable interface with a 5-pin DIN on the other end? If the latter, then your standard cheap cable from Amazon or the like is renown for being OK for note messages but bad ...

This could work, and you don't need a computer - https://www.doremidi.cn/h-pd-48.html https://www.midi.org/midi-articles/bitwig-announces-bitwig-studio-4-1-let-there-be-notes-1-1 You plug in a sustain pedal to this device which converts the signal to midi, and you connect the device to your Casio. Is it the TC Electronic June-60? That and a subsequent V2 have been around for a while.

Re: Yamaha AN1x and AN200 compatibility?

It looks like the answer is yes. But the .an1 files from the AN1x have to be converted to .an2 files for the AN200 (and vice versa) - it can be done with the AN1x Editor software from Yamaha, but it's for Windows 95/NT and Mac OS 7.5. People have gotten it to run on newer computers if you look online.

Re: Sharing music online rather than by CD, any recommendations?

RichardT wrote: Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:24 pm On Bandcamp you can allow people to stream your music a large number of times before they have to buy it, so it’s certainly a workable option. What I don’t know is what resolution it uses for streamed playback.

The free stream via Bandcamp is 128k mp3.

Re: Sharing music online rather than by CD, any recommendations?

You could try something like Google Drive - you could store your audio as 320k mp3 (the highest bitrate), and when your friends click on the files, it'll automatically stream for them to listen to.

Just wanted to pop back and say thank you, rockydennis, for the pointer. I now have the Guide in fairly decent PDF format. Plus there is a lot more to download in the Files section, such as patches and other guidance. It's going to take a while to go through it all! Glad to hear.

Try looking at the audience retention numbers in Youtube Analytics for your videos. For each video, you can see the average amount of time viewers are spending watching your videos, and you can see a plot of what percentage of viewers are still watching plotted against time.

Re: Why is the Waldorf Blofeld still the 2007 model?

This has been discussed on this forum, but I can't find a link to it. There's a group who've created a 56k emulator that can run plugins created from ROM's of actual synths. Is it legal? As they point out in the FAQ, having the emulator itself is legal. The other stuff? That's on you. https ...

Re: Why is the Waldorf Blofeld still the 2007 model?

Presumably, the reason is the same as the speculated reason why there hasn't been an Access Virus 3. Like the Virus, the Blofeld uses a DSP chip from the Motorola (Freescale) 56k line. The development for the 56k had pretty much stopped years ago and production of it is coming to an end. The code ...

Re: Real time (live) tempo correction

What if you split the guitar signal, and send one to a synth pedal (or a guitar to midi device, and send that to a synth), so you're double tracking your guitar with another sound. I think that could work well for Radar Love, not sure about whatever other songs you are performing.

Re: Plug in to remove reverb to recorded dialogue on film

The best way in theory would be to fire a starter pistol in your kitchen, and record that to generate an impulse response for the reverb of the kitchen. And then you could deconvolve that with your audio that you want to fix. I would actually try that if I were in your shoes just for the fun of it.

It appears that there's only one artist signed to the non-Spanish Sungate Records, Mariami, who is also the founder of this label. She claims to be "#1 on UK Charts 2x" but I find no record of an artist named Mariami who's charted in the UK.
