Bit more info needed… what are you using to control MainStage? For example, some keyboards put out clock messages and/or Active Sensing constantly, which if you don't need, takes time. That sounds more like a crappy USB cable, power draw, or hub issue than an OS related one. Nothing wrong at all hot plugging iPads or iPhones here, ever.
