Re: Audio drop-outs on playback from Logic
I've spent a bit of time looking at QLab and while I'm sure it's great for some people it seems to be a very expensive faff for what I want to do. Thanks for the detailed info. I'm used to re-bouncing stuff if need be so no MIDI/plug-ins are being processed 'live'. Sorry can't help with the dropout...

Re: Audio drop-outs on playback from Logic
Not much help, I'm sure… but running latest Stream Deck version 6.7.0 on • M1 Mac mini on the latest developer beta Sequoia OS • M1 MacBook Air on Sonoma 14.5 • M2 MacBook Air on Sonoma 14.5 Use Logic and the Stream Deck pretty much every day and I've never had a dropout Core Audio into either built...

Re: Audio drop-outs on playback from Logic
What would you suggest as an alternative to Logic? It must support multi-track audio output and MIDI. I do agree Logic seems very big and heavy to use live. I can put up with the odd thing at home when I really push it, but wouldn't risk it live - especially going between projects! I'm all for QLab...

Re: Survey on the use of virtual drums
For mock-ups, it'd take a lot to beat (ha) Apple's Logic Drummers, for me. I'm not releasing stuff. Just arrangements and the odd backing track. Dragging a region of x bars, repeating then changing the focus by a smidge works great. Takes seconds once you get thru the cryptic names and all the names...

Re: Anyone using Mac Mini M1/2 for gigs?
I used my base model M1 mini that usually lives at home for a week's run of a show using MainStage (built-in plug-ins, Arturia, Roland Cloud, Korg Triton Extreme…) and all was good. Because it was an emergency, MacBook death, I just bought the first cheap 7" HDMI monitor I could find on Amazon ...

Re: Wireless headphone latency
I've got some Senny RS120s I use occasionally. They're good old RF, so no latency.
As I rarely do any critical mixing, can't really comment on the (audio) frequency response, but they're nice and light on the neck while doing repetitive editing stuff etc…

Re: Good quality 8 inch active PA speakers - how 'accurate'?
Going back around 12 years… I played an intimate gig accompanying a great opera singing with a Yamaha CP-something stage piano through the house's Nexo PS8's for my monitors. In stereo, it was honestly glorious. But, as said above… expense. New DSP is getting better all the time, so you may not need...

Re: When does it become cheating?
For me, only miming is cheating. Looks like you're just using the gear you have to its fullest. Why not use the features? Using arps and stuff live is more than acceptable and been done for years. The Broadway/West End scores now have sections that require the MainStage concert to play the baked in ...

Re: Retiring from live performing - what 'board to settle with?
Keep the PA5X. I played the PA4x a couple of years back for a while on a gig. Those top of the line arrangers have a gorgeous keybed - I'd keep it just for that! You're not gonna find a nicer keybed on a MIDI controller only. It's much more well built than any controller I can think of off the top o...

Re: Korg Triton or Yamaha MX61?
Out of maybe 30+ keyboards I've had over the years, I love my little Korg i3 (2020 version) for school shows/open mics/jams/duo gigs. Paid for itself on one gig. Plays lovely. Weighs nothing. It can be converted into a Keytar quite easily :bouncy: Sounds better than my Triton and M50. Feels nicer th...

Re: An Audio Unit plug-in reported a problem...
Since beta-ing the Sonoma 14.1 OS, I've had not one report about anything causing a problem. Which is lovely :bouncy: Was so annoying in Ventura! So intermittent that even adding one plug in at a time wasn't any help. Was happening with both Mainstage and Logic. @Muzines… if the info is there in a c...

Re: Upgraded from Monterey to Ventura……..
Yes. The new Settings is awful. Wish they'd bring back the old style.
It is still there in Sonoma, though. All seems well with the Betas I'm running.
The Behringer X32/X Air apps are all working again, which is brill for me. Logic etc. all running as good as ever.

Re: Editing Audio In Logic ???
Yes. Sort of. You can't 'bounce' offline with hardware instruments as you can with software. They have to be recorded in realtime. You would indeed have a MIDI track in Logic (recorded first, and corrected, if necessary). Then you would create an audio track in Logic and either a) take audio cables ...

Re: Velocity curves
I'm trying to find a way to write this in words… Maybe it'll matter in your use case, probably not that much in the grand scheme of things. Is the word I'm looking for 'Consistency'? Re: Your experience with Arturia KeyLab 61 MKll
I really like mine. Don't mind the faders at all, or knobs at all. They're no worse than the 'premium' ones on my Kronos. Keyboard feels fine… the best I found trying out the other similar models. Keys are a bit 'sharp' on the corners, and makes it a bit tricky to do any organ smears, but synth wise...

Re: Cloning an Intel Mac to an M2 Mac
Just for the record, in 2020 I use Migration Assistant from a 2012 MBP to my then new M1 Mac mini and MacBook Air. All my sound libraries etc were on an external drive, and to this day, I can swap the external drive between my home Mac and the laptop without any issues. No real problems with any plu...

Re: Korg i3 Replacement contact strip
The ones I've replaced, generally have different keyed 'legs' running the top and bottom so they line up properly on the board with their matching holes. Is your strip totally symmetrical (looking from the underside)?

Re: USB Hubs for Music
I have a couple of OWC USB hubs for SSD drives, StreamDeck, iPad…. Really like them. Not rack mountable, but able to be put on a rack shelf. Take a look at their newer Thunderbolt Docks. For keyboards and other bits and bobs, I've a couple of U-Green 7-port powered hubs. Cheap, cheerful, and hide-ab...

In Logic's Triton Extreme Automation list, Combi Arp Switch comes in first. Program Arp Switch is around halfway down.
