Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Genre is pop music with backing tracks for vocals.
Violin is a solo performance no pick up Mike so we will use an SM58 somehow.
Not sure what half the buttons do, compression etc.
Thank you!

Help with settings on Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer
Hi,
Could anyone help with advice on some basic settings on the mixer for vocals and a violin?
I’m not a tech person and if someone could offer some basic settings to get me started I would be very grateful, E.g. which is the best effect (performing in a sports hall)
Many thanks

Re: Cheap CD player to hook up to Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer and how?
You’d use the 3.5mm headphone output to connect to the mixer. Either a 3.5mm TRS to 2xRCA cable if you use the RCA inputs on the mixer, or 3.5mm TRS to two 1/4” TS jack plug cable if you want to use a stereo channel. I’ve used both in the past, though I normally prefer the stereo channel approach as ...

Re: Cheap CD player to hook up to Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer and how?
Thank you for all replies. I think I am going to look at an mp3/lossless audio player something like this, however they only seem to have a usb c socket. Can someone suggest something that might work with something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09Q8QJXH5/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid ...

Re: Cheap CD player to hook up to Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer and how?
I'd replay tracks stored* on a phone or mp3 player. You'd need a 3.5mm mini jack to dual RCA-phono plug lead to run from the player's headphone output to mixer input.
If the mo3 player has a usb-c input, will a usb-c to rca work as well? Thanks

Re: DI box for guitars to mixer
Short answer: yes you can plug instruments into the line inputs of your mixer. Longer, and more nuanced answer: Electronic sources — keyboards, synths, electronic drum kits etc — can be plugged straight into the line inputs of your mixer without problems. You can also plug electric guitars and bas ...

Re: DI box for guitars to mixer
Punkyfish, what are you actually trying to do? 1) About how to get instruments into your mixer for the purposes of putting them through a PA for a gig? Apologies, I would like to put a bass guitar, electric lead guitar, keyboard/synth, electro acoustic guitar through the mixer which then goes to ...

Hi, yes bang on. I think I thought I could do the same using the mixer and it would work, because I can do that with the focusrite. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

Re: DI box for guitars to mixer
I’m not convinced that the lead guitar should be DId unless either the amp has a speaker emulated output or if there is no amp, their pedal(s) of choice has an emulated output. If they’ve only got standard pedals into an amp, then you’ll need to mic the amp up or it will sound awful. What is an emul ...

Re: DI box for guitars to mixer
I recently got a Sadowsky SBP-1, a preamp/DI for bass. Very happy with it. For electric guitar, my Vox Valvestate amp has a lineout that can be plugged straight into the mixer, but if I were serious about it I would be looking at a better amp and run it through one of Two Notes' boxes. For a simple ...

Re: DI box for guitars to mixer
that's what you would do if you - for some reason - were to plug the electric guitar straight to the mixer. If there's an amp involved what you will do is mic the amp. If there's a multifx or amp emulator (helix, kemper, etc) you will take the DI out from the device and straight to the mixer. It’s a ...

DI box for guitars to mixer
Hi,
I gave a Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer and want to hook up a bass, electro acoustic and lead guitar. The manual says use a DI. What do I need, what does it do and recommendations - not too expensive, thankyou

Re: Cheap CD player to hook up to Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer and how?
Thank you for the reply. We do have backups. If I rip to a Wav file, what would I use to playback and what lead would I need? I have an iPod but to be honest I have never had success with it nor my iPhone. I have never been able to either get stuff off my phone or put stuff on it. Hence the CD idea

Re: Cheap CD player to hook up to Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer and how?
It may be more convenient to have a battery powered (but maybe with a PSU) portable CD player. I’ve used one in the past. In that instance you’ll probably only have the headphone output, so you’ll need a 3.5mm TRS to two RCA connector lead. Do you need the facility to play certain tracks or loop bac ...

Re: Cheap CD player to hook up to Yamaha MG16X 16-Channel Mixer and how?
As for the CD player, again you'll find plenty to choose from on all the usual online retailers. However, CDs are a bit clunky and bulky these days. I'd replay tracks stored* on a phone or mp3 player. You'd need a 3.5mm mini jack to dual RCA-phono plug lead to run from the player's headphone output ...

Re: Cubase Pro 11 Education or is it 10.5.
When you activate Cubase, the downloaded license is for the current version. It doesn't matter which one you bought. Okay thank you for the clarification ...just concerned as the box for 10.5 with free upgrade to Cubase Pro 11 Education is £100 cheaper and I was slightly suspicious the retailer was ...
