Re: Hydrasynth or Arturia combo

I know it's a bit of apples vs oranges but would an Microfreak + Pigments give a similar amount of sound design potential? I can space out the outgoing money then :)

Re: Hydrasynth or Arturia combo

 Is it really that powerful/flexible compared to a vst like that? I personally prefer hardware anyways, but thought they couldn't compete with vsts?...

Hydrasynth or Arturia combo

Hi all, Quite a broad topic, but I'm specifically considering either Hydrasynth Explorer or Arturia Microfreak + Arturia Pigments. I already have an 88 key controller keyboard and plenty of other orchestral vsts (which is my main "sound") so this would be complementing those. My main use would be ...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld in 2022?

I'm surprised as well - either they have given up on it or are just confident it will still sell....or maybe both :) I'm not massively fussed about loading my own samples, but would like to load 3rd party patches (ones that don't use new samples).... If it was £200 it would be a no-brainer, but ...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld in 2022?

I forgot to mention, looks like you still need to pay a fee to Waldorf to unlock the Blofeld and have access to load your own samples/presets? About a 100 quid I think!

Re: Waldorf Blofeld in 2022?

Thanks all. I certainly really like the demos I've heard from the Blofeld - my only reservations are the bugs I've heard reported and the price given what is available today.

As mentioned best way is to get hands on if I can :)

The Hydrasynth Desktop is one of my options - does it it complement the Wavestate well? I've read the sound design options are great - is that your experience as well?

Re: Waldorf Blofeld in 2022?

Cheers, good to know - it seems like there's just a lot more options out there now. I already have a Wavestate but considering a Modwave as well (either that or the Blofeld). I know they are not a million miles apart in terms of sound but think they would complement each other nicely. Then the ...

Waldorf Blofeld in 2022?

Hi all, I'm quite tempted by the Waldorf Blofeld after reading that it seems to be a bit of an underrated gem that has stood the test of time. The demos still sound great imho. However, the last online review I read was from 2020,and there's been a flurry of great synths since then... For the price ...

Re: Cheap hardware samplers

Cheers guys for the info, a few things for me to mull-over  If you get a MG, don’t run it on batteries, they last no time at all. Be very careful how you handle it, it’s not built like a tank. Be very careful how you remove the memory card, and how you put it back in. It does freeze som ...

Re: Cheap hardware samplers

There's just something I love about the hands-on with tech, although my head tells me I could do it with a fraction of the price in software...The Microgranny does look interesting - I like that (at least I think) it isnt a groovebox. Seems more experimental.

Re: Cheap hardware samplers

Cheers guys, I've taken a look at these and not sure they will do what I need (or do extra stuff that I don't need) - I may just get a Zoom mic/recorder and do some field recordings, then manipulate the recordings in my DAW. Though that looks like a bit of a rabbit hole with wind shields etc!...

Re: Cheap hardware samplers

Thanks, I checked out the Vocal and the Speak but they look like they are mostly just capable of sampling very short hits (looks like the Volca only has 8MB of memory!).

Cheap hardware samplers

Hi all, I'm looking for a portable hardware sampler (that doesnt cost a fortune) for processing field recording samples, e.g. nature, vocals, anything! so I can use to supplement my tracks in Cubase - 90% of my tracks are orchestral/acoustic VSTs so this would just be to add another layer to. I had ...

Re: Make Noise O-Coast capabilities..

The modular route is definitely the way I'd like to go eventually but I don't think I have the knowledge (or confidence) to embark on that yet... I'll do some reading!

Fantastic o-coast demo on that soundcloud track! I wish there were more examples of what it is capable of. I really warming to it.

Re: Make Noise O-Coast capabilities..

I'd mainly use it for melodic writing but also for fx and soundscapes (with lots of reverb). Will be joined with a bunch of vsts so would supplement that.

From what I've heard it tends to be suited to more bright and clinical than warm, or can it do both?...

Make Noise O-Coast capabilities..

Hi all, I've dabbling with the thought of getting an O-Coast as I understand from reviews it is meant to be a very versatile semi-modular in terms of the sounds it can produce. However....from all the demos I managed to find on YouTube all I can hear it do is either impressions of dial-up modems or ...
