Re: To upgrade or not?

God I’m so scared of making a DAW switch…

Can’t handle the feeling of having no idea what I’m doing and not knowing all my little tricks/bits/bobs

Re: To upgrade or not?

Intriguing answers from you all so far! Thanks a mill! I guess if I get a new Mac etc then I’ll need to get new Pro Tools? Would be handy for migrating my projects etc But then I’d need to get their new subscription thingy, which I don’t love… Anyone know if possible to still buy, outright, and older ...

To upgrade or not?

Hello chums! Seeking some advice on whether to upgrade my OS etc, and possible choices. My dilemma is thus: Am currently running Pro Tools 10.3.10 on a 2013 MacBook running OS 10.9.5 I like it, it works, it’s all good. But I’m “trapped” on this setup, as if I update the OS to any level the Pro Tools ...

Buying an Otari MX5050 mkiii

Bonjour mes amis, I hope you are all well. It has been a tough January - may we all survive it... I have an opportunity to buy an Otari MX5050 mkiii Seems to be in decent nick, only two channels not working. Lots of other upkeep recently performed. Should I take the plunge? What hellishness am I ...

Re: Altering playback speed

Just had a good mess with Elastic Audio, and seems to only be automatable via master session tempo, which won't quite do what I want. Am I being a dope? Can it be applied on a per track basis? Certainly the Varispeed setting is providing exactly the effect I want. Is there a plug-in that does this ...

Re: Altering playback speed

I’m on PT 10.

Can’t seem to find such an option...

Is there a plug in that does this maybe? With an automatable “speed” dial?

Something like the Warp effect on Izotope Vinyl, but with an effect on sync with other elements, as well as pitch fluctuation?

Altering playback speed

Hello all. I hope everyone is surviving this third wave of hell. Stay safe out there... I’d to vary the playback speed of a track across its duration, thus causing it to slow down and speed up, with consequent pitch changes. Is there a plug in that does this which I can automate? Am I being very s ...

Reference Headphones

Bonjour to all, hope you're having a decent lockdown. I wonder would any of you good people be able to recommend some open back headphones for doing mix checking etc on? I don't mix chart pop, and I rarely work for other people, so I just need these for checking that my own odd records sound decent ...

Using reference tracks

Hello to all during these end days, may we make one more good track before the sky falls. Am looking for a little advice on A/B-ing using reference tracks. Specifically, when I do this I'm trying to make sure my bass levels are decent enough. But I struggle a little with setting up the A/B process ...

Mixing with guitar pedals

Ahoy all. Long time reader, learner of much, first time poster. Quick question (I hope!) Am running various things out of Pro Tools, via my Fireface 800, on a guitar lead from one of the lines out on the back. Am then running this through some pedals for silly fx and texture fun, and then back into ...
