Re: Mix review my hope
Thanks Adrian to jump into the discussion, I appreciate! I like the end of my song but also my endings are all similar. Next time I want to try your "train crash style" :D . Here is the purpose of collaborations...to get were we aren't able to go alone This is the new version. The simplified kick ...

Re: Mix review my hope
hello thank you all for the advice I'll try to simplify a bit the kick at the beginning is really too busy and simplify the guitar part in the intro. In fact this time in composing I didn't follow the usual length or commercial criteria, I just did what came to me and came out with a 6 and a half ...

Mix review my hope
Hi my friends
I would love to receive a feedback on my mix - everything homely made and performed
Levels, tonal balance, timing and tuning issues? ...anything weird or too harsh?
Thanks

Re: Realize
Thanks I appreciate the comments and a bit of English humour
A green sheet is a great suggestion.
Anyway it's also fascinating to discover people's homes. Your back yard looks probably not so catchy for the English public but I am sure it is
quite exotic for people of other countries

Realize
hi this is my track 'Realize'. The advice I received in the mixing section of the forum helped me to improve, although it's not perfect. Particularly there is a somewhat dense ending where the guitar solo conflicts with the vocals. The difficulties of the mix however are nothing compared to the ...

Re: Upgrading headphones…
Thanks...
I will keep for a while my non EQ corrected speakers-headphones more for the laziness to enter into the correction process than for the persuasion it is useless
And diminished returns make perfectly sense for a professional sound engineer

Re: Upgrading headphones…
I have AKG K712 Pro and Sennheiser HD650, again both EQ-corrected, and also agree that the 650's are comfortable but not my best option for judging the bass end. I have AKG 712 pro too and Shure SRH840-closed back- for tracking but sometimes I use it for another reference while mixing. EQ corrected ...

Re: Copyright absurdity - An interesting perspective
If a new system were to impoverish any wealthy royalty recipients, how would it be made law? I see copyright as one part of the issue, but not the main one. You are right, the main thing is that royalties are also paid fairly for small artists and not just insignificant amounts for streaming. We ...

Re: Hearing differences in cables - am I going mad?
What I really need to put in the test next time I think is the same cables. So a matched pair of Mogami cables and see if i still pick a difference. https://www.soundonsound.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77261 this is an interesting discussion on a similar topic you may find useful. Joining that ...

Re: Using 2 different distributors (Distrokid & CD Baby)
Yes, this is exactly what it happens. Distrokid and CD Baby will release your songs on 2 different YouTube topic channels. If you have an official YouTube artist channel, you can opt in to post the songs also on your own channel- but this can be monetized only at the condition that you are already ...

Re: Multiband for resonances
If you want to be more surgical you can try with a dynamic EQ.
Most of them have also attack ad release settings. If you have Cubase 11 or 12 is Frequency. You can let the transients and removing the resonances without the coloring of the compression if you aim for a more transparent filtering

gain and stereo image of double tracks
I read this excellent article on double tracks https://www.soundonsound.com/techniques/doubling-thicker-sounds Some questions remain about fake double tracks Does it make sense to duplicate the track without adding delay to one of them or modulation, and panned one a bit to the right and the other ...

Re: New song for mix review
Hi One Word, I do agree that the intro is too long, but I like it overall Elf you made me understand that this clashing is not good...now I worked more on the last version posted and I panned the distorted guitar further left and made it barely audible in order to not clash so much with the vocals I ...

Re: UAD goes Native (*not* Apple silicon)
Of course, there's plenty of others who like the fact that, as UADx plugins roll out, they've now got even more choices as to how to distribute their load and access more resources, so they see it as a good thing. My view is that it’s an overall positive move and provided the plugins we have bought ...

I aspire for this quality of harmony, but I'm out of my depth.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5qBJuDu4yU No amount of Melodyne will get me anywhere near! Re: New song for mix review
Wow!!! I am learning a lot of important things! This is exactly what happened to me. It was difficult to sing, the harmony didn't came naturally at that point and I thought the "unison harmony" would fit and I used this- very few takes! After your observation I agree that it's not nice at all. I am ...

Re: New song for mix review
- The break down at 2:20 is a lot. It is a long song so you need some differentiation but change in guitar pattern and sound was a lot for my taste. Not that the part is bad, just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the vibe of the track. Good work and thanks for sharing. thank you!!! I will ...

Re: New song for mix review
In fact, listening again now, have you got a fairly fast acting compressor on there already? I think I'm hearing a bit of swell after each note as the compressor bites on the transient and then releases whilst the note is still going on. If so, maybe just try slowing that attack and letting more of ...
