Re: Absolute beginners advice please
I can just give you my own preference. I´m not a piano professional either. I just use it to record some ideas. I have the Kawai ES-110. I like it a lot especially the mechanic of the keys. Also, it has MIDI In and Out which was a must have for me cause i use it mainly as a master keyboard with a VS...

Re: Which drive?
The issue with USB though, it is not intended for anything time critical. Because of this reason Firewire and now Thunderbolt is actually much more preferred for audio interface and gives you a much lower latency than USB. Strange advice indeed. USB 2.0 has always supported an isochronous mode spec...

Re: Which drive?
Yes, I hope my post wasn’t misleading. Today you never would consider a USB audio interface as unreliable or not cable of 32 tracks or more. I definitely can’t see that there will be issues on the Soundcraft side. Although Dave already pointed out what is the difference between the manufacturers, it...

Re: Do I Need Monitoring Headphones???
I would recommend you try out some HP with tracks you like. I would go with studio HP cause they seem sturdier than Hi-Fi HPs and are designed so they will survive also small mistakes, like to much bass or clipping. It is nice to know, if you accidentally cranked the wrong level you didn’t fry the H...

Re: Which drive?
Dont worry too much about. Like you said the best thing which you could do, is a test run and afterwards check if you got any issues with artifacts or dropouts. If you record 22 tracks, 24bit 48kHz you have a bit rate of 25mbps USB 2 is capable of 480 mbps minus headroom so let’s say 320mbps. So aro...

Re: Which drive?
No, you don’t need to get a powered hub. SSDs don’t need much power, your USB can easily provide that. Samsung T5 or the newer T7 is an option.

Re: Which drive?
It is a tricky question, due to your old Laptop. USB 2.0 is not really an option it is to slow at least when you want to record directly to it. Thunderbolt would work, but you have Thunderbolt 1, I think. So, for a recording session directly to your external drive, I think you can’t get hold of some...

Re: ZEDi-6 vs MG06
Wow Jorge, thank you so so much. You are the best. Really thank you a lot that you tested it for me and gave me this great advice. I really appreciate it a lot. Thank you so much. Also thank you blinddrew, your answer got me thinking about my Focusrite and I tested it again. Okay to be honest it is ...

Re: ZEDi-6 vs MG06
Yes you are right Mike, I also think if you compare those two mixers the ZED-6 is much more capable. Working without PFL is possible on small Mixers but definitely a pain. Also having real Pan control and High Low shelf for all channels is a big plus over the Yamaha. Overall, despite my intended use...

Re: ZEDi-6 vs MG06
Thank you for your nice Answers. Yeah well I know A&H is not a known to be a cheapo company. However, I have a Focusrite interface, which of course doesn’t provide the quality of a RME or UAD interface. This AI rates their HP Amp for use with up to 300Ohm Headphones. So I was thinking it is not ...

ZEDi-6 vs MG06
Hello Guys! I hope someone of you can share your experiences and help me. I´m searching for a small mixer as a use of a monitoring mixer directly from the artist. I narrowed my decision down to the Yamaha MG06 and the Allen Heath ZEDi-6FX. Both of them have their drawbacks. However, I would prefer t...

Re: Linux Audio Workstation Build
Wow sounds like a really nice Idea.
I would be happy to hear if it is working out.
I wonder what DAW and interface you are using?

Re: Best XLR cables???
I always went with "Coridal". They are kind of in the middle, I´m sure they dont have the best mic cables in the world. The cables are made with Neutrik connectors, or the cheaper ones with REAN (cheaper daughter of Neutrik). Cordial always did get the Job done, no unexpected issues so far...

Re: RODE NT1-A or something else,
Wow great that you found the mic which fits you nicely. Given that the M201 has around the same output level as the Shure SM7B. The SM7B with spoken word and max gain is peaking at around -36dbfs. So, I definitely would recommend a fethead/cloudlifter even with the EVO4. I also wouldn’t cheap out on...

Re: RODE NT1-A or something else,
Hey, I am fairly new to the forum. Excuse me if I am doing some mistakes, I just wanted to share my experiences. First of all, wow the price seems to be really high. Especially for the NT1-A. In here (Austria) it is 160€. However, it would be my choice. Maybe compare the price and the frequency resp...
