Re: Help in choosing a MacBook for fairly light video editing & live video streaming.

Thanks all, I figured that was the case.
I'll decide based more on other factors than lite video editing proficiency.

Help in choosing a MacBook for fairly light video editing & live video streaming.

I’m looking to start what I consider to be fairly light video editing on a MacBook and exploring how much CPU/GPU performance is required for a relatively comfortable experience. I envisage producing a mixture of the following: 1. Short clips, 5 to 15 minutes. Instructional material and often with m ...

AppleCare+. Anyone recently tried to add it to a MacBook beyond the initial 60 day period?

You can seemingly only take out AppleCare+ within 60 days of registering the device. But in the past, people have reportedly taken a MacBook instore after 60 days and been able to add it. They will apparently first run a system diagnostics test and also a visual check before offering you AppleCare ...

Re: Backblaze conundrum: My monthly cap

Backblaze will send you a drive so you can reinstall locally if necessary, for postage only I believe.

There are limitations on which computers and external drives are included in backup plans, so read the terms carefully.

Re: Quietest PC Cases, for Music Production PC Build?

If gaming or video editing or doing very taxing tasks, I don't mind fan noise - just want to keep it as silent as possible for everyday work use, and recording music with microphones. At that sort of performance level it is fairly easy to have silence in a tower system located under a desk. It's ...

Re: Considering moving from PC to Mac. Low latency performance?

It's annoying having so few ports and not sure yet how I will hook everything up. When I had an Air I bought this one but it really depends on how many peripherals you need to connect. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B087QZVQJX?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3 Thanks a lot and that should ...

Re: Considering moving from PC to Mac. Low latency performance?

Windows 10 was a faff when it first came out as it was getting a new version every six months and it seemingly wasn't an optional upgrade unless you were using the Pro version. I'm still using W10 but have lost so much faith in MS that even though my desktop supports W11, I have just bought a ...

Re: Does anyone use Teams?

For the less than once a week use we would make of it, £10+ per month (Zoom) is too much and the free 40 minutes would fly by and be very frustrating I would think. It's similar to what landline companies do where they offer free calls for up to an hour. This has been going on for decades and the ...

Re: Mic recommendation for recording Himalayan and Crystal bowls.

It's very good value for money and sounds sweet... but bear in mind that it is a miniature capsule electret mic so self-noise is relatively high at 18dBA (compared to 10dBA for the Sennheiser MKH8020). The mic is designed and equalised for near-field (close mic) applications and so that noise floor ...

Re: Worth a look - Just Ask The Axis: Jimi Hendrix unpicked - Milton Mermikides

Fripp did play with Vai/Satch on the G3 tour a while back though and despite his rather odd persona and stage demands (he was always right at the back in the dark - very strange), it wasn't too bad. He's not really a natural performer though, or at least he doesn't come across as such. Which makes ...

MacBook Air M2 – Clamshell mode okay with external monitor?

I recall reading that there were some limitations when using certain M series MacBooks with monitors, particularly with the Air models. Re: Best Amp under $600 Clean warm round tones, 10 watt?

The single coil is, I think, a P90 style wide coil pickup so sounds different to a Strat/Tele type single coil. The OP is correct in that it is definitely a single coil at the neck. A humbucker in split coil (or even parallel coil) mode sounds very different from a single coil due to the ...

Additional bonkers question here. SD cards are cheaper than an external drive and can be left in the in built reader all the time. Depends where the actual stock is as well. If it's already in the US, then no tariffs presumably. This is more about production warehouse levels and production line flexibility. If Americans stop buying due to high prices, in the short term there may be a global over supply which could temporarily lead to lower prices in other markets!
