Re: Is employing subtractive EQ alone a 'waste' with a 'Colour' EQ like an API 550a?
First of all, very much what Hugh said. Second of all, I use 550b's and I personally can't hear the transformers. I like them because of how they sound (the end result doesn't sound "EQ'd" even though it is) and they have good ergonomics (stepped controls, proportional Q). I don't think you're ...

Re: Daisy Seed - just like starting over
I find the C++ approach the least confusing. I'm not very comfortable with C++ itself but I can pretend I'm writing C with some objects sprinkled in. I had a go at what are supposed to be more approachable music DSP platforms like Pure Data and SuperCollider but I end up finding naive C code on ...

Re: Question about mixer and preamps
Will the Mackie preamps color the sound noticeably? They are not meant to color the sound; the marketing copy says they are "clean". I wouldn't worry about it. Well if you plug your keyboards into inputs 5-12 they won't go through any pre-amps as those are line-input channels. Channels 5-12 on that ...

Re: Roger Linn teaches "Designing Physical Interfaces for Music"
Thanks for sharing this! I got to attend this course because I read about it here. Although there is also a fair amount of lectures, it's mainly a practical workshop. Participants build a music gadget or installation and present it to the rest of the class on the last day. It was a great experience ...

Re: Building a Frankenmoog.
You could also consider buliding an MME. https://guinguin-instruments.ecwid.com/ ... -p58805985
It's a DIY Minimoog clone. I am nearly done building one for myself and I can already tell it sounds great. And it is satisfying to have built it myself.

Re: Rode cable... noise with a dynamic mic
As for chassis ground to pin 1, I can confirm both cables are wired that way. Pedantically, it's not about chassis ground and pin 1, but the XLR shell and pin 1. And you should measure this with both ends of the cable disconnected. Inside the device, it's not uncommon for audio ground and chassis ...

Re: No Sound From Kurzweil K2500RS After SCSI2SD Install
Is the volume turned up? Have you tried different outputs, including the headphone out? Are all the cables on the inside seated correctly? An unplugged board-to-board connector is a possibility after one has had the cover off and worked on the inside. The K2000R has a function where if you hold ...

For what it's worth, the Cadac Live 1 apparently comes in three sizes (8, 16 or 24 mono channels) and that picture shows the middle size. The smallest version is rack-mountable.
