Re: Headphones…
Morning there, Quite a few interfaces now have 2 headphone outs, (eg. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/audient-id4-id14-mkii ). If you’re on Mac still, try using GarageBand, it’s far easier to get going, whilst you get your confidence, and it’s free on your Mac. When you’re getting confident then ...

Re: Radiophonic workshop
https://www.spitfireaudio.com/bbc-radiophonic-workshop#listen It’s an interesting read for sure. £159 I think. (I have no affiliation with SA!) it’s interesting to read. “ Along with a variety of microphones, the EMT turntable and Rogers loudspeakers made especially for the BBC, there are the Maida ...

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
But I do think 10s are more suitable for playing chords if what you're doing is mostly chords.
I’ll definitely try a set.

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
But with other instruments playing, I expect you’re less likely to notice some chord intervals sounding not quite right. Yes I think this was the first time (for me) I felt I just wanted the guitar doing the work, the reverb didn’t help either, holding some harmonics that slightly jarred. Being a ke ...

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
E1 = -2.3 cent B2 = 0 G3 = 0 D4 = -0.4 Cent A5 = -2.1 Cent E6 = -2.3 Cent Given that the frets themselves are laid out in 12TET, no thanks. Interesting - I watched a YouTube vid yesterday of a (pro) player showing his own sweetened tunings from perfect. They looked quite extreme to me (-6 cents on ...

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
Red light fever. I know it well. Try recording it in shorter chunks, then when you're happy with a take from each chunk, relax a bit a record the whole thing. Ended up doing this Drew. 2 bars at a time got some great chords and then did a few passes over a longer section much better knowing I had a ...

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
Thanks Adrian, I’ve checked my other guitars too and I’m thinking it is a technique issue. What I think I’m doing (I’ve just recorded and videod myself playing) is because it’s more or less just some guitar picking (with some shimmery reverb) at this point and I move quickly through those barred chor ...

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
What is a tuner saying about it? If you finger a chord and play the notes one-by-one into a tuner are they in tune? Yes they seem to be certainly the Barred F and open C major Bm. Have you got any feeler gauges - what clearance do you have between the strings and the first fret? String to first ...

Re: Guitar in tune but yet not?
Yes I wondered about that, I could just try different inversions I guess, but I have to say I wondered whether the nut slots were a little high. But that might be a red herring I end up chasing……

Guitar in tune but yet not?
I’m working on putting some simple chords and a piece of music which so far has some simple piano, basic drum beat and Hammond. Trouble is my electric guitar although tunes spot on just sounds a bit “ off” when I drop from a barred at third fret G to a similar barred at first second Bm. I’ve checked ...

Re: RX elements
Well I've never used Auditon but I do use RX for cleaning up samples when I'm creating instruments and it works marvellously, certainly enough for me. Its also easy to use which is bonus when you're not sure what you're doing :D , I just close my eyes and twiddle - as they say and it works. no major ...

Re: Reconnecting synths after studio tear down
Since I don't have a dedicated space for music-making, tearing down and rebuilding is a weekly occurence in Casa Asaro!
But your output is phenomenal and the quality mind blowing!

Re: reconnecting synths after studio tear down
When I did it ( ), I labelled all synths (stereo outputs included L & R), all sockets and PSUs (cause they all look the same :headbang: ), drew a wiring schematic to inputs on AI. All midi and usb cables were marked too, and I put them back one at a time testing as I went. Just take your ...

Arturia update Pigments to V6
I’ve just watched the Arturia update ( :geek: )and although I’ve used pigments quite a bit in some of my past work, it’s simply amazing what it can now do. In fact it truly appears to do everything I could imagine and (not surprisingly for a musician whose definition of peak synthesis is the Minim ...

Re: Drum sample libraries on an external SSD drive
I do that with all my sample libraries which includes BFD3. Most of the programs enable this with options in the instrument for streaming to reduce any latency.

Re: Kurzweil K2700 - help!
When I put it against the horribly obscure Kronos :D My Kronos is the heart of my studio and after 7 years I’m beginning to understand it! It is complex, sampling in particular but I’ve got a workflow that samples in my DAW and then translates the Logic files to Kronos. That works a treat. With all ...

They’re a real set of ideas, gone through now a few times. Interesting what’s been achieved with just one (in many cases a limited sound source). Some standouts and questions if you’re able? Re: One Synth Challenge 2024
Enjoying listening through these well done!

So far my guesses are, (despite not got through them all yet, and a rather ad hoc play order I’m using):
Trappist 1e - Ju06a?
Charles Dickens - Nord
I’ll post my revised guesses later

Re: The Heroes of Bristol Gate
Eddy, that’s a lovely, haunting theme. Had echoes of Michael Kamen - i could envisage the opening scene of a film very easily. I’m glad you avoided dropping the motif and continued building it. The chord change to the minor created a wonderful dissonance which made me smile when the release came. Ca ...

Why? It's not it was the first and only buyout! yes quite agree Hugh. But it’s a major change for it’s engineers and its fine history. It could work out but the ethos of practically hand made instruments in the US I suspect is going to end. My concern is that the kind of instrument I ass ...

wasn’t even cognisant of this stock plugin! Re: Midi controller with decent keyboard?
As a pianist, I’ve tried lots of controllers and ended up with the Arturia key lab 88 ( not the essential). It’s not bad as a piano controller, a little spongy, not quite as good as the RH3 action in a Korg but pretty good. Plus the faders and knobs are great. But it’s such a personal decision, I’ve ...
