the title says it all.
i nearly purchased a cloudlifter CL-1 to beef up my SM7B..but i have a AEA TRP on the shelf for my royer mics.
Any reason i can't use the TRP for the dynamic mic?
cheers

A preamp with clean high gain is good for everything!

None at all. It cant provide phantom power of course, but that's not a problem when using ribbons, dynamics, or self-powered mics (like most valve mics or battery-powered electrets). The TRP is a great preamp and, with 83dB of gain available, it's more than a great match for the SM7b.
