Hi all,
I hope you don’t mind me posting this here, but it seems this is a friendly forum with prompt and informative responses.
I have an Alesis Command drum kit which I have been playing for a while and I now want to get into using its MIDI functions. It has a USB MIDI port (as well as 2 x standard DIN MIDI ports). As I understand it, the USB MIDI port can be used to connect directly to a PC/Mac in order to trigger software based instruments using the drum pads.
But does anyone know if the USB MIDI port is bi-directional, i.e. can I send MIDI signals from a sequencer to the Command drum module to play sounds from it?
Or would I have to use the standard MIDI IN socket for this purpose (meaning I’ll need to buy a USB -> DIN ‘Y’ cable or a MIDI interface breakout box)?
Any help offered is appreciated.
