OMF: how to make stereo interleaved work?

So I'm transferring some old multitracks into Pro Tools from Cubase VST/24 format. That's fine, Cubase 3 loads those (without mixer settings and plugins, but that's OK) and exports OMF.

But- stereo interleaved tracks come up as mono clips in Pro Tools with an error message and no file imported. So ya, OMF doesn't support polyphonic audio files. Annoying.

Does anyone please have a decent workaround that doesn't involve the added tedium of bouncing out stereo files?
