Leave Snow Leopard or upgrade to Lion?
Leave Snow Leopard or upgrade to Lion?
I am rehabbing an early 2008 black Macbook that is running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I need to run Pro Tools and plan to put Pro Tools 10 on it, plus maybe Reaper and Audition. I will probably upgrade my audio interface from M-Audio Delta 66 (on a PC) to an RME as I would like to minimize round trip latency as much as possible for live overdub recording of percussion. That vintage Macbook does not support Mountain Lion. Is there any real advantage to installing Lion, compared with leaving Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

Personally, I'd leave it on Snow Leopard.

So far everyone agrees Snow Leopard will be fine. Is there any advantage or need to boot to 64 bit as Lion 10.7 would allow but Snow Leopard 10.6 won't? It seems the early 2008 Macbooks with Snow Leopard are not able to run the full 64 bit kernel.

PT10.3.2 working fine on Lion here. Can't speak for your other apps. Note PT is still 32 bit anyhow.

I wouldn't touch Lion with a bargepole.
