So much to keep on top of with Window 10.
Is the creators update shipped in the obligatory and forced updates that come over the internet when you connect ?
I have read a few stories of plug ins losing authorization and then showing up oddly.
Edit: Just checked and it seems everyone will have this creators update force installed at some stage. It may not be a major event when issues have been de-bugged but it feels like you have to keep an eye on developments.

Yeah, with the major updates (I guess the closest thing to a service pack these days) and if AE was anything to go off last year, they'll let you have access to it for a few months before running a staggered roll out over time.
In this case they added an option to your manual windows update to download it early a few weeks back.... and then last week suggested that you probably shouldn't for the time being, at least until they bug fix it a bit more.

I'd say its probably not worth thinking about right now. I'm sure much like AE last year that they'll have the issues resolved prior to feeling the urge to push it out to everyone who didn't choose to make the early jump.

Re: Win10 creators update
Thanks Pete. Just about to put Win10 64 and 64bit DAW on my older music making machine (still fairly spritely) and started looking into the Win10 vs Win7 debates and optimizations again.
I will probably do the basic optimizations and see how it is all running after those without going to deep in. My main problem with the machine was a tiny SSD (64GB with 1.7GB free
) and 3.5GB (at least that is roughly when things started getting unreliable, missing synths, not writing automation data, parts vanishing and other overall weirdness and unpredictable operation) memory limit with Cubase 8 32bit. Just one of those things that when I installed Cubase 6 years ago I chose 32 bit instead of 64 bit thinking it miight have better compatibility at the time.
Only thing is I did not know what music I was going to get involved in and as it turns out I am making music that kind of takes a machine to the limits, memory and CPU wise. Heavily soft synth laden and there are a few memory and cpu hogs but they sound so sweeeeeeet !
16GB RAM / 256GB Samsung 850 Pro and 64bit DAW is going to help a lot but there is always a degree of anxiety going through the update/install/authorize stage. I look forwards to it and dread it at the same time.
Just need to find a 48 hour hole in my life for the install and authorizations.
Thanks for the heads up on the creators update.
PS This one also got the Seasonic high end PSU treatment, a nice feeling knowing the PSU is top notch, kind of often overlooked on self builds.

FWIW - been running it (the Creators Update) for for a bit over two weeks - and Sonar and plugins all seem to be functioning fine. Existing projects load as normal and new VST loadins as well

Same here, ran for a month or more and nothing untowards - with three different USB interfaces.
