Edirol UA-25 drivers for Windows 10?
Edirol UA-25 drivers for Windows 10?
I've just bought of these cheap for my windows 10 laptop on the off chance.
I've looked online and have conflicting news about drivers for these on W10 so thought I'd ask on here for a better answer.
Anyone using this on Windows 10 and with advanced mode?
It's a good little soundcard, solid and simple with MIDI and optical digital which I like and need.
Thanks in advance

There are a few suggestions out there but none of them worked for me, regretfully. It's a neat bit of kit, I agree. I ended up selling it. Probably not what you wanted to hear, I'm afraid.

Re: Edirol UA-25 drivers for Windows 10?
Thanks for the update.
Just out of interest, as I;m new to Windows 10, can you boot into say an "XP compatible mode" for a couple of programs for audio?
I don't necessarily need W10 for audio, as I don't use many current VST's etc but could do with the UA-25 working (as i use external hardware)
Is it possible to boot into a smaller XP mode for Audio and then W10 for normal Internet use?
Thanks

Have you tried going into W10's advanced boot/startup options and disabling driver signing before trying to install the drivers?
If you have W7 or 8 and the drivers work there, an upgrade to W10 will bring them along from what I've read.

Re: Edirol UA-25 drivers for Windows 10?
The most common solution for installing drivers involves getting the latest driver and at a specific point in the installation process editing a text file to make W10 think that the driver is compatible. It enabled me to complete the driver installation but my UA25 remained invisible to the OS.

No, you can run programs in a compatible mode, but individual drivers don't have the capability.
You could run the whole lot in the VMware style XP mode, but then everything runs in that mode and it'll probably cause a lot of newer kit to b0rk.

Re: Edirol UA-25 drivers for Windows 10?
Thanks for all your advice on this.. I have got it going but only in standard mode, and not advanced mode so no MIDI or 24 bit..
Out of interest does the UA-25EX work ok in Windows 10?
I just want a simple audio interface that has solid MIDI and Optical TOSlink digital in out, (not Phono s/pdif) and the UA-25 was one of a few that i could i think of with this?
Is there something simple I might have missed?

I couldn't get mine to work either with W10 nor latest OS for my iPad.

Interesting. I just looked at Roland's driver page for the EX here and saw "UA-25EX Driver Ver.1.0.0 for Windows 10". Could be worth a try.

Just seen this too, tried to install but the download folder just has a readme file in it
It says to connect the device and the Advance Driver will be updated automatically, but nothing happens and the Edirol switches off?

Re: Edirol UA-25 drivers for Windows 10?
I no longer have a W10 computer but if I did I would still have retained at least one W7 machine*. Something like this HP i3 laptop upon which I am typing would probably be fine or you could probably pickup a W7 equipped tower for well under £100 S/H.
Or: The Native Instruments KA6 satisfies your spec' except it has co-ax S/PDIF but the electrical to optical converters are pretty cheap and since they are jus hex switches they cannot impact on sound quality. CPC do a few.
*I 'break' them so often I could not function with just ONE computer!
Meant to say, I was at a computer fair a month or so ago and there were shedloads of W7 DVDs about (nearly bought 'Pro' but then thought, "what would I do with it?") VERY few W8, one or two XP but only ONE I think Vista!
Dave.

And IF it works it lends lie to the oft made claim by manufactures that writing new drivers is a time consuming and expensive exercise. As a total PC and software chump I can only assume that in some cases they are right but how many pieces of perfectly good hardware have been skipped for want of a relatively simple re-write?
In a great many cases I suspect they CAN'T WAIT for Ms or Apple to bring out the next screw up so they can flog us more shiny stuff!
It makes me MAAAAAAD!
Dave.
