Hello all
Not been doing much at all for the last 2/3 years but am slowly (very very slowly) weening back into music tech, not that I knew anything before and am certainly well out of touch.
So what has got me thinking is that I have a few gigs coming up with a band (not great, more novelty) and we're doing some pop songs along with a few standard 3 chord wonder pub sing alongs.
I've dug out my old Roland guitar synth and fitted the gk3 to an old guitar in search of some sounds to try to get on the first rung of sounding something like, with reasonable success.
The Roland is a bit limited in its available sounds and editing on the fly is a bit cumbersome with it being a floor unit. I sold the only other option I had for expansion (jv 1010) but again editing wasn't easy.
Now I'm thinking Roland> iPad> PA for more synth sounds.
Is it easily Doable and Worth the effort?
Cheers.

Re: MIDI to lightening & iOS synths
Hi Dave,
Hooking up a regular 5 pin din MIDI cable to an iPad is straightforward enough with the right kit. I have the new Korg PlugKEY lightning MIDI / Audio interface which is a really simple plug and play device - and seems to work just fine with MIDI compatible iOS synths.
I'm not familiar with the GK3 though and by the looks of it - it doesn't have a regular MIDI out? Is it a proprietary connection for specific sound modules, etc?
