Korg NanoPad 2 - need to convert USB out to MIDI din...

Post by pax-eterna »

First question - is this possible?

If not, are there any small pad controllers (and cheap if possible) that I can use with the iRig Pro Duo, to trigger arps in Sampletank for iOS?

I want to have this control outside the keyboard I am using. I really only need four pads, but I guess something with a lot would have to do haha!

I have a small MIDI merge box, So I was thinking (originally) to hook up my NanoPad to this along with the keyboard (on different channels of course) so I can play the instruments in ST, but control the drumm triggers via the NanoPad.

Anyhoo, thanks for reading, and please if someone has a different (probably better haha!!) solution post it!

But, ^ A bit of a wedge. Some years ago I am pretty sure I plugged a USB keyboard into a computer and routed the MIDI to the M-Audio 2496 card and used the DIN MIDI out port to trigger something else (I couldn't PLAY for *&^! just liked messing with the 'tronics! )

If you had a USB interface with MIDI ports I see no reason why the USB signal from the Nano pad could not be routed to the MIDI out port, probably need to do it in a DAW.

We (son COULD play, Grd 8 Joe) also bought a Yamaha PSS something, uncollected repair for a nifty and it had 8 30x 25mm assignable pads on the front so it could drive the 2496 and be bashed in Cubase Ess 6 for drum sounds.

Thanks - yeah the Kenton is a good bit of gear, but too exxy!!!

Someone suggested just get a CCK for the iPad, and then run everything into a USB hub and then on to the iPad.

Trouble is trying to find a small (two port) powered USB hub (Isuspect being IK gear it will NEED to be powered) is nearly impossible.

Does not HAVE to be just two ports surely?

haha, no of course not but that is all I actually need:D Plus the space for placing the unit (for live work) is limited and the smaller the unit the better!

All I could find out here was units with four+ connections and on the large side!

Thanks for the link :) NIce unit, but not availale in Oz :(

O...kay. So, you get a bigger unit and stow it somewhere and use USB A 'male-female' extension cables.

I did this to get USB conns from the rear of a PC out front so I didn't have to grovel in the dust and dark with the spider. See, usb front ports can be 1.1 and in any case I tend to bugger them with my knees!
