Hey guys. Just bough an original JP6 and the patch storage method is frying my brain. Anyone know how it works? Manual not making sense.
It can store 32 and 48 patches. I cant for the life of me understand why there is a 32 and 48 storage system. Thought perhaps one is for splits but don't think so. Can someone shed some light on that?!
Also, the method for actually writing the patches is weird.. bit I think i can probably get my head around that. Is the button pressing the same for the 32 and 48 storage banks?
Thanks!

Re: Jupiter 6 patch storage
It's a long time since I've used a Jupiter 6, but as I recall, there are 48 patch memories which store individual sounds.
Pairs of those 48 sounds can then be combined to create 32 patch presets (because the Jupiter can play two different sounds either layered or split across the keyboard at the same time, if required)

...yes, I was just trying to figure this out from the complicated description in the manual, and that seems to be the general idea. The 48 locations are apparently more fundamental "tone colours", while the 32 "patch presets" are the combination of one or two of these (if a split is used) with a particular "mode". (I think this mode might also include other stuff, possibly FX, or different types of keyboard tracking; not sure.)

Yes! Thanks chaps. That seems to make sense. The manual does rather make a pickle of explaining it.
