Hope you're all outdoors enjoying this fine weather, and not stuck indoors in a stuffy studio...like me
Anyways, I'm trying to take the reverb from a vocal and reverse it. Is this a plugin method, or more a 'solo' the reverb, reverse it, record it, then re-apply?
There are ‘reverse’ presets for various reverbs that apply an envelope with a slow fade in followed by an abrupt end.
This is useful in an emergency, but if you’re after classic Poltergeist reverse vocal effects a much more effective alternative is to reverse the vocal track, add reverb and re-record it, then reverse the audio once more. Voila - instant spooky vocals!
Apply the reverb to the vox as a send.
Make your bus send pre-fader and then turn your vox down so that you just hear the 'wet' vox.
Export this as an audio file.
Import this wet signal as a new audio track and reverse it.
Turn your vox back up.
You can now add it just before your vox in the timeline so that the fx draws closer in reverse sounding like it sweeps up on you from a distance and 'sucks' you into the main vox part.
indeed!!!! I did this last week for a Sepultura style metal vocal.
export the phrase you want the reverse reverb for. reverse the phrase, apply a reverb ( 100% wet ). record or bounce the reverb, then drag it back into the original track. reverse the reverb you bounced, and line it up against the start of the phrase, or wherever you want it.
