Does anyone know how these preamps compare?
Presonus Eureka vs SPL Channel One?

No Idea, BUT I doubt it would offer you any sort of huge difference over the pre-amps you already have, what are you hoping to achieve with the purchase or have you got a post christmas pre-amp allocated wodge of cash burning a hole in your pocket...
Re: Presonus Eureka vs SPL Channel One?
Having looked at the reviews on here, and being someone who has hankered after a Channel One for ages, there can be but one choice.
The SPL Channel One is as good as the rest of there gear, absolutely top notch, and is probably as good a mic pre as anyone should ever need, added to that the great features such as the one knob de-esser (awesome touch) this has to be a no-brainer.
Though it is strange that you are comparing two units where one is more than double the price of the other????

Re: Presonus Eureka vs SPL Channel One?
Well the Presonus Eureka has had loads of raving reviews comparing it to the Millenia HV-3c and Avalon 737sp which cost even more! I've only been able to find one Channel One review which was the SOS one.
What I would like is something that sounds larger than life, thick and very smooth and not harsh.
Apparently upgrading the transformers in both the Eureka and Channel One makes a big difference?
The Channel One also can have Lundahl transformers for both the ins and outs which I'm guessing would help thicken and smooth out the sound even more than just having an input transformer on the Eureka?
My options would either be :-
1/ Stick with Eureka and get the transformer upgrade
2/ Buy the Channel one and get the transformers upgraded
To get the both upgrades would cost around £200!

I don't know how they compare but I have owned a couple of Eureka channel strips. They are built like tanks and very versitile units. I sold them in the end because my fingers were too fat to work the knobs.
cheers!

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking that I'm going to stick with the Eureka.
