I've tried a bunch over the years, from Steinberg's stuff to AAS stuff. I've come across two products that seemed to be better than the rest:
Pettinhouse.com has good, easy to use sample-based libraries for acoustic (with strumming samples) and direct electric. These are easy to use, but not too flexible. I use them when I need something to sound rather raw. Both are cheap.
MusicLabs Real Guitar and RealStrat are very good. Very flexible, but a bit of a learning curve if you want to be thorough. Paired with a good amp modeling software you've got gold I'd say. More expensive I believe.
Hope this helps.

Then how do you think about the Chris Hein Guitars and Vir2 Acoustic Legends HD?

I think there are a good few vsti sample based ones about but i had the same problem with what one to choose..a few years back
I opted to start using a fender acoustic that i got from a friend for a reasonable price and a squier strat and got a few chord chart books ...and recorded the guitars...more realistic i think....and more satisfying ...
And do a search for free amp simulators there are some very good ones about....
If i had to buy one it would be the RealStrat a friend of mine has this and its good....

I've tried lots of them.....and musiclab's real range is the best way forward. The sample include up and down strokes for realistic sounding rhythm and also many different samples of the same string/fret for a more authentic sound. The range supports muting, palm muting power chords, drop tuning, hammering.....everything!
I have the whole range.....real guitar, strat and les paul. I'd say the les paul would be best because you can get a more varying sound.....clean through to rock/metal.....the strat is good but not as flexible.
Ram it through guitar rig and you're laughing!

The musiclab range are great and I would highly recommend them. Realguitar has been a staple go to for me for years.
Another mention to Orange tree samples evolution acoustic guitar. I bought this when it was released and it is a wonderful sounding sample set.

Hi Parco!
What is it about your obsession with 24-bit?
Can you really hear the difference between 16-bit and 24-bit libraries (and I suspect not, since you had to ask Spectrasonics which their VSTi's had
) and if not why is it an issue?
Remember that as soon as you mix together two 16-bit samples by playing more than one note at a time the output audio will contain at least 24-bits worth of data

Don't know about 24bit but that ilya efimov (what a name - fhimoff!) is 24carat standard, sounds really convincing
Re: Any high usability and very good sound quality & realistic guitar VST or libraries recommended?
I recently purchased one of the Kontakt libraries that has been mentioned here. I am a keyboard player looking for acoustic guitar elements in my pop/rock/indie music style. I have to say that the sonics are incredible. However, I have tried really hard to understand and 'play' the instrument but I just can't seem to nail a sense of performance realism/control/feel that I'm happy with.
I've decided to basically patiently learn to play a bit of guitar and have some fun recording and learning. Just my perspective and I'm sure others have a different opinion/experience.

I'm very surprised no one mentioned Vir2 Instruments Electri6ity! It is _very_ tweakable, but because of that it tends to take some time to really get to sound great. There are six electric guitars including Strat, Telecaster, and a couple Les Pauls.
All the guitars in this track are from Electri6ity:

Personally I'd love to get Acoustic Legends HD from the same company but it's also a bit pricey like Electri6ity...

But when most of your libraries are 24bit and you have to mix your full project with 24bit, then that's a huge problem when double or multi dithering and noise shaping are generating sucking sounds

Honestly, I usually use Electri6ity with the chord detection turned off because I often don't like the voicings it chooses. It's a nice feature in that you don't necessarily need to know guitar voicings, but it reduces flexibility.

Whatever "bits" samples are found in at Chez Dave we (well son) just play them in realtime and record them, usually with Samplitude and then export the audio in the format we need it..Bazinga!
