I'm just about to pull the trigger on a new list of components for my new build DAW ONLY machine.
I'll be running Cubase 6 (for the first time).

Some Waves plugs and i fancy getting the SSL 4000 Native set too.
I use about 40 Audio tracks and about 10-15 Soft Synth/sample tracks. (not including SD.2)
I'm coming from an AMD Athalon 64 dual core 2.4. running sx3 and i totally choke it almost to a standstill at mix down.
So , and i apologise for this old chestnut. Should i go for i5 or i7?
The extra £80.00 is tight but I probably won't upgrade again for about 5 years.
My thoughts are that although Cubase doesn't use hyperthreading ...they might one day..........
Any one using the i5 and punishing it and it coping well.?
I know what i should do....but not sure what i shouldn't do
Just that I'd hate to build it and i get the dreaded stutter...
