Eucon problem

Post by RoastBiff in The UK. »

Over the last few weeks I've been getting a message window that opens up when I boot up Logic Pro. 9.1.7, telling me that:

Incompatible Eucon Version.
Please make sure that both Logic and Eucon are up to date.
Minimum Eucon build 65916.

Sop, I have been booting up Logic Pro by pressing the 'Launch without Eucon' button, but it's becoming a real bore doing this every time I boot Logic Pro up !

How can I get rid of this feature ? Do I need it? What is it for ?

A quick google led me here to Avid, where it seems to be software for managing Euphonix control surfaces. Does that help?

Hi Concertina,
Thanks, I got to the AVID site, and realise that Eucon must have been downloaded when I tried some Euphonix Interfaces last year ( but didn't like them ! ) The Avid site gave me lots of info on what Eucon does with many DAW's, but I cannot find out where the Eucon software is on my Mac, or how to disable it ?
It appears to have been included in Logic Pro since Version 7 , but if I search 'find' for it, I just get the Logic Pro V 7 announcement !
Why it's appearing now, after the last but one Logic Pro update is beyond me?

Bit of a bizarre story, that. Sometimes legitimate but badly implemented software can feel surprisingly like a virus at times ...

I've run out of knowledge but hopefully somebody who knows more (Desmond?) will be along soon. Hope you get it sorted.

That's a pity. I think they're fab!

Hi Chris,
I looked in my Applications folder, but there is no Euphonix folder in there ?
I tried the 'find' button under File for Euphonix and Eucon, but nothing came up except a link back to an announcement for Logic Pro 7 mentioning the Eucon facility ?????

The bloody thing is hiding somewhere in my Mac, just because I sent the Euphonix Interfaces back ! ( joking )

You'll need to update everything - simply goto Euphonix site and download all the latest. Then update surface and computer so that everything is running on the same version, otherwise it will never work properly

It might be hidden in the Logic package contents (it presumably has one like Cubase). Right click on the Logic icon in the applications folder and choose "show package contents" try searching for Eucon, or Euphonix there. No guarantee it will be there, but it is a good place to look.
