Yamaha THR10 Driver problem

Post by Howdy Doody Time »

I wonder if anyone can help. I just bought a Yamaha THR10. Sounds great, but I really wanted it for recording electric guitar, so I downloaded the drivers (not included)

When I try to install the 32bit Windows driver I get the error message "The processor is not adequate for running Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver"

The processor is an Intel i5 with 4GB. How much processing power does this thing need?

Appreciate any help

The 64bit driver installs fine. I have studiously avoided using 64bit version of Reason 6 but I'm using it now and it's not scary.

When I get back to Europe I'm ditching computers for all but editing because it seems nothing has changed at all. Things simply tend to not work without consulting an IT expert, or stop working at the most inconvenient time in accordance with Murphy's Law.

My hardware recorders on the other hand continue to work fine every time I switch them on, in some cases well over 40 years after they were built. I have accumulated boxes and boxes of spare parts, none of which I have needed so far. These recorders will outlive me I am certain. What I am also certain of is that by that time, I would have needed more computers, scores of updates, dozens of questions asked in fora such as this one, and medical help for elevated blood pressure and ulcers.

The other reality is that I am only a mediocre recordist and musician, and the pinnacle of sound reproduction can safely remain outside my grasp. I do this for fun, and with computers involved I find it is less and less like fun and more and more like fighting never ending niggles.

Back to the fun for me when I get back to Europe, the only reason the fun is not here now is that it weighs too much to transport (about 800Kg)

Meanwhile this THR10 thing is really nice, it makes me want to play the guitar much more, and since I just bought a Fender Strat, I have double the reason to do that. If I want to record with it I'll stick a microphone in front of it, but right now, having just graduated to a Strat from an acoustic guitar, I'm not competent to play anything worth recording - yet.

Toodle Pip!
