Hi,
I have searched the forums and can't find anyone who has tackled this.
Here's my setup:
Pro Tools 10
Yamaha 01v96 Version 2
Digi 002R
Carillon Audio PC running Windows 7 64bit
I am trying to get the 01v96 to act as a DAW controller for PT10, but I'm having no luck. I have downloaded the USB drivers for the 01v96 and the device does appear in the peripherals list in PT10, but still no joy when it's selected. I have tried using the USB interface and also the Midi interfaces, connecting the 01v96 via the Digi002 midi ports. Either way, I get the following message:
------- 01V96 has gone Off-Line --------
---- and is waiting for MIDI input -----
I have carefully followed the instructions in the Remote Control section of the Yamaha manual and still no joy.
If there are any of you out there who have this working and could step me through it I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
D
Pro Tools 10 & Yamaha 01v96 V2 - DAW Control
Re: Pro Tools 10 & Yamaha 01v96 V2 - DAW Control
Are you sure that the drivers are compatible with the 64-bit version?
All the control is done via MIDI, which is sent over USB. Have you set it up so that the DAW MIDI is being sent over the USB interface? In Windows, is there a MIDI interface associated with the USB (I use Mac, so I don't know the way to check).

Re: Pro Tools 10 & Yamaha 01v96 V2 - DAW Control
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have been doing a bit of work on this, this evening.
I got the drivers here: http://www.yamahaproaudio.com/global/en/downloads/firmware_software/mididrivers/um304x64.jsp
I am prompted that they have installed correctly and I do have a Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver under my Device Manager which says it's functioning correctly.
On the Yamaha, under the DIO/Setup in the MIDI/Host Tab, all parameters are blank except DAW, which is set to USB 1-2. Remote is set to Pro Tools.
Within Pro Tools, under Setup/Peripherals/MIDI Controllers:
1 is set to Type=HUI, Receive From=Yamaha 01V96-1, Send To=Yamaha 01V96-1[Emulated], Ch's=8
2 is set to Type=HUI, Receive From=Yamaha 01V96-2, Send To=Yamaha 01V96-2[Emulated], Ch's=8
The Recieve From list has the following choices:
Yamaha 01V96-1
Yamaha 01V96-2
Yamaha 01V96-3
Yamaha 01V96-4
Yamaha 01V96-5
Yamaha 01V96-6
Yamaha 01V96-7
Yamaha 01V96-8
The Send To list has the following choices:
Yamaha 01V96-1[Emulated]
Yamaha 01V96-2[Emulated]
Yamaha 01V96-3[Emulated]
Yamaha 01V96-4[Emulated]
Yamaha 01V96-5[Emulated]
Yamaha 01V96-6[Emulated]
Yamaha 01V96-7[Emulated]
Yamaha 01V96-8[Emulated]
When the Yamaha is on the Remote Layer, I still get the offline error as mentioned above. I am however able to manipulate the faders in Pro Tools, but once I let go of the physical fader it returns to the bottom. If I manipulate the on screen fader with my mouse, it does not affect the physical desk. So Pro Tools seems to be receiving MIDI info from the desk, but it's not transmitting it.
I have updated the firmware on the Yamaha this evening to the latest version, this hasn't changed anything.
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
D

Re: Pro Tools 10 & Yamaha 01v96 V2 - DAW Control
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried using the MIDI ports on the Yamaha, but it does not work. The manual says that for DAW control, one must use the USB port. I also tried setting the Rx/Tx Ports to USB, but that didn't work either.
Thanks,
D

Re: Pro Tools 10 & Yamaha 01v96 V2 - DAW Control
I had the same problem.
The fix was as follows...
Right-click on the shortcut icon for Protools in the desktop
Choose compatibility
Down the bottom, click in Run As Administrator
Lo and behold it worked perfectly after doing this.
I assume that Protools wasn't able to interact properly with the Yamaha USB driver without the Admin capability.

It's working! Your fix sorted the issue! Thank you very much!
If you're ever in Dublin, the pints are on me.
Thank you sir.

This thread has been fab - I don't have an 01v96 but the procedures here are directly applicable to the DM2000 too.
