Hey guys
Which headphone type do you think is better for EDM:
closed back or open back?

You will want a flat ranged pair with open backs for monitoring. Budget will be another consideration. Some suggestions to look at would be the AKG K201, the Beyerdynamic DT880 and the Sennheiser HD650.

If you intend to record via microphone, you will want to consider a closed backed pair.

I'd definitely roll with the open backs so long as you're not using them for tracking live sources. If you're just mixing then you should be golden.

Try to avoid anything that has a hyped response (I'm look at you Dre) as you want something to reveal what is going on in the music not what sounds flattering.

I think you just need some "headphones" rather than "headphones for EDM" :)
