running midi controller through effects pedal
running midi controller through effects pedal
Recently, i've been running my keyboard through a memory man 550-tt and It sounds really good. I also use a roland a-500 pro midi controller and i run both of them through a presonus firestudio interface in logic pro. I would really like to try running my midi controller through the memory man, but I have no idea how. Is there a way to do that? I honestly don't know much about this kind of thing. I've searched the internet and found nothing.
Re: running midi controller through effects pedal
The Roland A500 is a MIDI controller and produces no sounds of its own as far as I can see, so plugging it into any effects pedal makes no sense. I presume you are using it to trigger sounds inside your computer?
You would need to run the sounds generated by your computer through the effects pedal. The simplest way to do this would be to route the sound out of a spare output of your Firestudio and plug this into the pedal, then route the pedal's output to a spare input on your Firestudio. It depends on your DAW, but most of them allow some sort of 'external effect' to be defined to handle this sort of thing.
However, the Memory Man isn't expecting line level outputs to be plugged into it, so you'll have to be careful with levels and see how it reacts. You can get devices to drop line level to/from the kinds of level pedals expect, but at this point, unless the Memory Man does something very special, it might be simpler to just use a plug-in delay processor inside the computer.
