I always considered the Softube Cl-1B a good sounding VST compressor. It has just the right amount of realism and comparable with a decent compressor with tubes in. Also more controllable that LA-2A emulations.

Just out of interest why did you go for Nuendo over Cubase as a mastering engineer and which version are you on? I see Nuendo in few audio post (tv and film) but I don't think I've ever seen it in a mastering studio.

Hi there hope it's ok to respond to the OT question.. multiple reasons... mainly cause I really like it, it is a great workstation and does not have quite the somewhat tarnished reputation that Cubase has previously had. (although it seems better now as I use it in a the music room). In the past I have used Nuendo for some post production work as I used to work in broadcast/music recording many moons ago. I have v4.3 simply because thats more than capable of doing what I need.
I also run SADiE and Wavelab 8 here + speed utilities like Adobe Audition etc. often Nuendo is used just for processing/play and capture through analogue chain. Nuendo also has very smooth VST integration, unlike SADiE, great editing and PQ workstation it's a bit clunky with VST plugins.
Most DAW's excel at specific tasks and owning a few makes it more efficient.

Makes sense, broadcast is my area (music more of a pleasurable hobby that makes a few pounds through synchs). I actually wondered whether more exacting mastering clients lined up track gaps and cross-fades as an omf hence the need for Nuendo!
