Sustain pedal to control effects parameters in GTR3

Post by gingertimmins »

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if my idea will work (as it hasn't so far!) but I'm wondering if someone could enlighten me.

I'm tired of lugging my guitar effects to the rehearsal studio and back so I've taken to leaving them there. I have waves GTR3 and a spare guitar at home which does the job for a bit of light practice at home but one of my main effects is the warp mode on the boss dd20. Holding down the pedal in wrp mode increases the delay feedback and level until released. It's extremely expressive and an important part of my sound and I miss it at home.
I'm wondering if I can rewire waves into either cubase 5 or reaper and use my piano sustain pedal to control these parameters.
My set up is windows laptop, M-audio fast track pro, evolution midi keyboard (going to midi in on the fast track) and a non latching sustain pedal which plugs into the keyboard.
I've been playing around with it but beyond getting waves rewired, I'm stuck.

If anyone has a nugget of knowledge I'd be grateful!

Haven't clue how to set up your sustain pedal to do what you want. But if it doesn't work I can suggest an alternative.

The Line 6 FBV Express Mk II is affordable and a very good compact USB MIDI floor controller. It has a great software editor and you can map pretty much any MIDI controller to any of the 4 footswitches, the treadle pedal, and the toe switch of the treadle pedal.

That's a pretty nifty looking bit of kit. I wasn't looking to spend anything as it will get minimal use on a very occasional basis but it's looking the better option at the moment!

Thanks Zen!

Also look at NI's Guitar Rig hardware. It's very well built and should be able to do the job.

From what I can see it's second hand only now.
