Music visualizers?

Post by SoundVisible »

Hi all,

What do you think about music visualizers? Do you consider using visualizer as a viable substitute for a music video? Do you use them on your youtube music channel? Do you like to listen to music on youtube accompanied with an audio visualization or do you find it distractive? Please, share any thoughts on this matter.

Hey, there's not much of a feedback.

I'm new here. The thing is that I'm into making music visualizer templates and I really want to know is there any demand for that kind of things.

Is it ok to share my works here?

About 2000 or so when Winamp and Windows Media Player started doing them, they were fun for about 10 minutes. Now - a bit lame.

I personally think they look cool when done right. Not just the single spectrum at the bottom or top, but when they have boxes, circles etc dance to the music, I find it gives more impact to the music, or at least the overall experience. If I was releasing a album, I would get 2/3 of my Favorited tracks and make them music videos, but the rest? Load 'em into After Effects and give them all a fancy trap-code audio react, perhaps all similar colors which fade into each other, so when you look at the playlist, the colors are spread. Good Luck...

I like just the music visualizer that shows what we hear, a pink noise as a flat/horizontal line, with a frequency response from 20Hz to 22.5 kHz

Sometimes a spectrum visualizer looks more interesting if shown only a part of the whole frequency range, 20Hz - 1000Hz for example

I've been talking about an audio visualizer instead of a static picture accompanying a music on youtube. Something like that

There is a great one called Gforce which does all kinds of crazy things! It used to be free back in the day, alas not now.... it`s really responsive and evolves with the music

WINAMP + WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ones are RUBBISH!!!

One of my mates was well into developing these from the early 80s culminating in NEON that is the visualiser in the Xbox 360.

He had this amazing projector that was used for gigs but was also powerful enough to project onto the undersides of clouds.

Laying in a field at night with music blaring out watching a show projected onto clouds was a pretty neat experience.

There is a bit of history of his stuff here: Details
