I recently used my Behringer Ultra 400P DI box with an electric guitar . The DI box was then connected to a mixer. I observed crackling sounds whenever the DI box was mildly touched not to talk of whenever it was physically moved around.
I changed the cables and it persisted. I changed the DI box , retained the cables and it stopped. It seems there is a partial contact associated with the 1/4" female jack connector inside the DI box.
Will appreciate suggestions on solving this problem with the DI box producing the crackling sound once touched!
crackling noise from DI box
Re: crackling noise from DI box
If it's new enough, then take it back under warranty (it has a 3-year one). If not, then opening it up and re-making all the soldered joints is likely to be the only answer.
But Behringer and DI boxes don't go well together. You'd be better off dumping it and getting something like the Orchid DI box that's highly recommended here.

Reliably fallible.

Thanks. I don't live in the UK. I buy most of my gear form the US so the Orchid Box is out of it form the point of shipment. Which budget priced passive DI boxes available in the US will you recommend ? I also have the Live wire SPDI passive box.
I have heard many not too good feedback about Behringer products (with the sole exception of their famous X32 digital mixer). Does anyone have negative views of this active passive box that supposedly emulates a 2x 12 cab?

As Wonks says, Behringer don't have a great reputation for DI boxes (although much of their other gear is good). In the US I'd look at the Whirlwind IMP2 - I've used one for many years with no problems.

That's one of their better ones, being a direct copy (so I'm told by those that know) of a much more expensive H&K Red Box cab simulator.
I have no idea how it fares on the noise front with its current components, but sound-wise it was a good match for the H&K unit.
