external sequencer for nord drum 3

Post by Drongoloid »

Hi. I would like to trigger/ sequence patterns using the sounds in my Nord Drum 3p other than from the associated hardware pads. I know about the Nord Beat app which seems good but I don't have an ipad.

Would I be able to do this with a Korg SQ-1?

many thanks

The SQ-1 is a great mono sequencer, but not ideal for this situation.

If you are preloading rhythms and just want a clock, the SQ-1 will work fine, that’s how I use mine, but for sequencing, it’s for my modular stuff.

A BeatStep Pro would be a much better choice if you are using the Nord as a sound module. You get a tonne of options and flexibility with the BSP.

thanks for the reply, Ben. A bit more research was suggesting that might be the way to go.

+1 for the Beatstep Pro

Just sold mine the other day but only because it’s been replaced by the Elektron Digitakt which is also a very good option.

You want what, a sequencer for a drum device but you don't want to buy an iPad to use the beatstep software to control the device.

People said you could use the "beatstep" pro from arturia even though you already said you didn't want to go the iPad route of using the "beatstep" software.

I see.

But do you?

Looks like no to the beatstep and yes to the beatstep.

I'd say buy that iPad.

No not really.

Have you heard of Twisted Electrons Crazy8, no. Of course you haven't no one has, well this little device does sequencing and the way you want, might want to consider it for being less in price than the Elektron Digitakt ironically similar same name different spelling.

The real question is do you even know how to drum since you don't want to use a drum device with drum pads? (rhetorical)
