A new forum for music conferences?

Post by Ken P »

I was about to post a message along the lines of asking if anyone had any recommendations for alternatives to Loop (the Ableton conference) and couldn't decide which forum to post it in.

I went to the first Ableton Loop in 2015, really enjoyed it, great programme and evening concerts. For one reason or another couldn't make the last two and can't go to LA this year. I was wondering if there were any similar events in Europe.

I know there's Brighton Music Conference and SynthFest ... any others?

Anyone else interested in such a forum?

Hi Ken,

To my mind, conferences and exhibitions are all part and parcel of the 'music business/industry' so the best place to post is in the MUSIC BUSINESS forum (which is where I have moved your topic).

No need for a dedicated Conference forum, IMHO.

Hi Ken, by 'forum' in your post, do you mean physical or virtual?

Hi folks

Yes, this forum makes sense.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for alternatives in Europe to Ableton Loop this year?

There's the annual Superbooth in Berlin, but that's not really conference-focused, more like synth/sequencing gear demos. Here's an SOS news report on the inaugural event in 2016: https://www.soundonsound.com/news/sweet-booth

Sorry to be a pain in the outboard, but shall I start a new thread with a subject along the lines of music conferences & festivals coming up?

I quite fancy Superbooth. I also have Transmediale and Sonar on my radar.

By all means Ken. A well targeted topic title will work, and once created we could "sticky" it at the top of topics if it gets traction/use.

Thanks for that link, wish I'd known about that earlier as it's a pleasant surprise to see these things happening outside the south-east.
Hopefully it'll be repeated next year.
Cheers :)

It's not too late -- it's happening 3 – 5 September 2018 @ University of Huddersfield.

Yep, sadly I'm already tied up that weekend though.

In a strictly metaphorical sense. ;)

That's what I want to avoid - not being metaphorically tied up (!), but finding out about interesting things too late to do anything about it. I'm going to start pulling a list together of interesting events and posting it here.

That's great! I'm always on the look out for events to go to.
