Can anyone recommend any free reverb impulse responses?

Post by garrettendi »

I use Freeverb3 as an IR loader, so they would need to be wav files compatible with that...

I've found the Wave's IR Convolution Reverb Library, but while I haven't downloaded it yet, it appears it's only compatible with their own IR convolver products...

Anyone have any recommendations?

I had a shufti a while back for some lexicon ones but couldn't find any in wav format, but I did find some bricasti ones. Haven't used them yet. Next time I'm on the other machine I'll see if I can find them again but it might have been from a link in one of these threads. Worth a search. :)

Thanks Drew! Do you mean the Samplicity Bricasti IRs? I found them, not sure they're exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm more looking for reverbs created by actual say, concert halls etc!

Ah right, as you were then. I just tend to use True-verb when I'm looking for something real-sounding.

Thanks Drew!

I'm wondering if I can actually use the Waves library with Freeverb. Does anyone have any experience with that library?

Commercial IR reverb producers are highly unlikely to be happy with you using their IRs in anyone else's processor, so I doubt that you're going to enjoy any success in that direction.

Time to exercise your web searching skills I'd say.

Yeah forget what I said about Waves then!

I've found the OpenAirLib. That looks good.

All joking aside, that is a good point, but I have other more important things to buy for the studio once the wedding is done...!

It's not quite AIR Lyndhurst, but this one is fun:

http://www.balancemastering.com/blog/fr ... nvolution/

They're IRs taken through a Funktion One rig in an empty nightclub! I gave them a listen a while back and they do exactly what they say on the tin. I haven't used them in anger yet, but if I ever want to add a bit of liveliness to a live recording that's lacking ambience/audience mics, they'll be the first thing I turn to...

Here are a couple of links with Impulse Responses of real-life acoustic spaces to be going on with:

Would have another listen to the Briscati if you can.

I have them in Logic's Space Designer and they are truly excellent - lots of real halls , beautiful plates and very realistic small spaces ; never heard a real Briscati myself but believe they are really rather good by comparison.

If you need realism on a budget then you owe it to yourself to have a play around and see what happens in the mix , might be just the ticket.
