Scapetune - Anyone a member ?
Scapetune - Anyone a member ?
Has anyone heard of or signed up to Scapetune ? I was contacted by a guy who seems to be a big noise in the European film soundtrack circles and asked if I would like to join his new site Scapetune. 50/50 split royalties which seems fair. However, after uploading a good amount of tracks, some exclusive I no longer had access to the site as it was being re-designed. Since then (early spring) there has been no access to the site for me and the announced re-launch never happened in June. I have had patchy email response from the CEO telling me I will be contacted when it is available but I now get a strange feeling about the whole thing.
Here is the site which has been upall along, the latter site where I was able to access and upload my tracks has since disappeared.
Just wondering if anyone else has had my experience.

Never heard of them. But the website would make me run a mile tbh.
And it’s a really bad name.

I guess that's another pointer that it's not taken off. :-/

Agreed - I hadn't heard of Scapetune until Marbury posted, but I was impressed by how professional the website looked.
Mind you , I hadn't heard of Bandlab either until a few days ago - it's so easy to get left behind nowadays
I'm sticking with Bandcamp for the time being

I wanted to remove this thread but was advised by the moderator to update the outcome. I have since been in contact with Scapetune and the misunderstanding has been resolved beautifully so I can say with confidence that after a delay in the site going live everything is back on track

Nice to hear, always good to have some other options in the marketplace.

Excellent - thanks for the update Marbury!
And once again, I was very impressed by how professional the Scapetune web site looked, and am intrigued to find out more

I'm a total newbie to this music business lark but I'd love to hear how the OP got on with this site, to see if it is a viable alternative to bandcamp.
Has it successfully generated any royalties? Do you get good clear comms from the site admins? Do they promote 'worldwide' as the website seems to suggest?
Any feedback eagerly anticipated
+1 on the scroll down comment, but unfortunately this is where modern web design is at, don't worry, they'll be back to panels and buttons before you know it
Thanks
Andy

Re: Scapetune - Anyone a member ?
Just an update on Scapetune. They didn't last long, made me no money and were soon sold on to Rarebeats (another terrible name)
Just had this depressing email from Rarebeats
Approximately one year ago, we undertook the “Scapetunes Music Library” project with great enthusiasm and high ambitions.
As you may be aware, countless of production music outlets have recently emerged and penetrated our market, increasing competition and driving sync fees to the floor. This new surge of disruptors has undermined our market reach, and the ongoing fixed costs to support the operation of “Scapetunes” have become overwhelming for our company.
As a result of the above, we hereby inform you that we are terminating the operation of “Scapetunes Music Library” and return all rights in connection to the musical works to their rightful owners, the composers (that is, we are releasing any and all rights back in connection to the musical works).

Sad news, but at least they have now been honest with you, as well as officially returning all your rights.

Unfortunately the guy who set up Scapetune seemed more interested in posing around in suits on his website than actually getting a decent library going. It seems to be all about ego with younger folk these days.
