Location recording tonight; 5 mics straight into my Zoom F4 - I have the 2-mic add-on unit.
All set up; levels checked; chatting to a friend between rehearsal and concert when suddenly the F4 shoots backwards and hits a stone floor from a height of 1m+
Although the mic cables were routed well away from footfall, seems like someone managed somehow to yank a mic cable...
Heart in mouth, rescued the Zoom. All seems fine; concert recorded satisfactorily.

Suspicion now falls on someone who was fiddling with lighting mains cables. 'Tidying' them by pulling through... only thing was it wasn't a mains cable. 'Twas one o' my mic cables...
I shan't say anything... another friend who would be aghast. But lesson learnt by me...
Mike Stranks wrote:Now I've had a quick listen and proto-mix it's not too bad a recording... considering I had to use an unorthodox miking arrangement.
With one shoved up a lampie's a**e?
