Excellent link but can anyone recommend any programs from the list? I don't want to go down the route of overloading myself with stuff I'm not gonna use...

Very good of people to mention these. One which I've picked up on; mentioned on the forums previously by Max and others - definitely worth a download is Ohmforces frommage. And the stratergy works. I'm very tempted by their product line some excellent stuff. So there's one recommendation Another Nick.
Thanks anyway for the site posts. Best wishes.

If you are looking for free software for multitracking and the like on a Mac go with Ardour(http://www.ardour.org)
Also with ardour you get access to the LADSPA plugins from Linux, while not being great they are pretty well all free(I cant think of any for pay, though I dont think anything is stopping them from releasing commercial plugs) and some of them are useful. The packages for them I believe can also be found from ardour's website, going through the download page.

Haven't tried the Mac versions yet but some of those plugs are available for PC and I've used them... The Digitalfishphones plugins are excellent. As is Izotope's Vinyl. Smartelectronix offerings are variable but mostly very good and useful suff.
Re: FREE mac Plug ins....
It's a good link for me but i'm on OS9!!!

Anyone got any? Ive got my DP plug-in's, and a couple of free VST one's the Macs previous owner left with me (he went to PC - the traitor!), tho I cant run them as I dont have a wrapper.
Speaking of VST wrappers, are there any free ones of those knocking about for OS9?

After spending months perfecting my acoustics and "breaking in" my monitors and diamond plated cables (gold is for sissies) I have fallen in love with...
Chip 32 and Decimator.
Seriously - absolutely awesome plugins.

Decimator is good, so is the betabugs(sp?) chorus - really instant. And actually daHornet is kind of fun for a vi.

Great link, thanks...
Been using Fish Fillets for a while, top stuff.
Spent a week trying a few new ones off this site- so far I'm loving the Wavebreaker (insane/experimental distortion effects); the Supatrigga (slices audio and rearranges/reverses/slows it); just started using Meringue (delay/feedback effects). They've all inspired me to write some quite different-sounding stuff: can't really ask for more than that...
Going to check the Chip32 and Decimator next...
Anyone got any tips for interesting/weird analogue-style delay plugins?

I'm playing my LP through a Zoom G2 directly into Logic using Ohmforces "Predatohm" and also the PSP Vintage Warmer plug-in... an awesome heavy "Tube Sound"...

Re: FREE mac Plug ins....
is there mac version of the PhaseBug??? or any plugin that does the same thing for mac. Its just a phase shifter controlled with a 360 degree wheel. It'd help me fixing phase problems that aren’t exactly 180 degrees out of phase

Re: FREE mac Plug ins....
well i know about these plug ins from dont crack, so i was not completely over the moon, anyhow, having become a recent convert to the MAC, i want really some advice, i have always used cu base on my pc. i now want to try out some other software, but not buy just now, does anyone know of any where to get hold of some software much the same as cubase, or indeed a version of cu base i could use meanwhile, as i am rather lagging and dwelling on this one, and i fear i will have to purchase cubase again, which terrifies me. Any advice on a good program, well, i would be seriously grateful!

Re: FREE mac Plug ins....
I think this would be more appropriate on another thread, but you should contact Steinberg and ask about a cross platform copy of Cubase. Also, Apple has a demo version of Logic for download. It is here: http://www.apple.com/logicexpress/trial/
