Shocking disregard for Intellectual Property on a massive industrial scale. I really hope the authorities act as strongly as they can, because no one benefits from counterfeiting in the long term.

In my world, things get less strange when I read the manual...

I know of people knowingly buying this kind of junk 'because it's just as good as the real thing'. We get what we deserve...

If it was as good as the real thing, they could sell it as a decent mic/amp/etc under their own brand name for a bit less than the standard manufacturers do, and still make a lot of money.

But they don't. Which tells you that they aren't as good as the real thing.

Well, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. I just got stung with a camera filter via a well known and very large web site.
OK, so it was only £25.00. So the lesson? Only buy from a very reliable source. Preferably buy from someone you actually know. I've just bought a Canon 5D from a dealer specialising in Broadcast Television who I've known for many years (Top Teks). Actually, their price was quite competitive among other pro dealers, and they have rather good coffee. And their backup is superb.
There's been a lot of talk about mics etc. Really if we are 'professionals' we should all know better. For the hobbyist, OK, if you're willing to take the risk, it's just the money. If you do it for a living....
And I believe there's even rigging equipment out there that is forged (bad pun I know). And that just doesn't bear to think about.

Considering that a large percentage of things are licensed for manufacture in China, one would expect the knock offs to be indistinguishable from the real thing. Crooks are as lazy as ever I guess.

At least in the US, most domestic products are of equally dubious value (shite), but they do come with cute stickers of American flags that were mass produced in China, so there's a nice bit of irony for you.

"The operation was conducted last October on Soundpu Electronics Equipment..."

Serious topic, I know, but the company name had me in stitches.

"AKA Voxpu", which is what happens when you sing into the fake mics.
