Obviously, my first thought was to check for the limited manufacture license - I'm sure it's been discussed before but I couldn't find it in the search. The PRS website is nice and clear, but I'd just like to double check (and it's handy to have a thread here).
At the site :
https://www.prsformusic.com/licences/releasing-music-products/limited-manufacture
it states that there are 2 elements to the license :
* The copyright in the musical work (MCPS)
* The copyright in the sound recording (PPL)
And you can buy a license based on the number of sales you want, how long the cd will be and also whether or not you want to include the PPL. This is the bit I want to check.
Is it correct to say that if you want to record your own versions of the songs, you only need the MCPS?
And if you want to include someone else's recording, then you would need to add in the PPL?
Anyone done this before?
Thanks
