Re: Karlax (new bizarre looking controller)

Nine years on, and it looks like it's RIP Karlax. The website has recently gone offline and I don't think we'll be seeing any more of it.
Let's watch this crazy dude once more for old times' sake.

Hi buddy, can you kindly check the video llink. Showing video not available due to copyright ground.

Hi jelodu, and welcome to the SOS Forums!
I've just tried both the above YouTUbe video links, and they work fine for me here in the UK - perhaps you are elsewhere in the world to run into copyright issues?
Martin

Incidentally the website has reappeared, which is good news - because I still need one of these €4700 black anodized aluminium beauties. (Includes USB cable and microfiber wipe.)

More Karlax action...

Currently yours for £1800+ on Reverb. Only time I've ever seen one of these for sale.

I still love it; it's brilliantly bonkers. But these days I have to ask myself, could I get one built for less...? Well, yep. So I think this will always be aspirational.

It wouldn’t be as impressive but I wonder if an ipad could achieve similar results with it’s accelerometer etc.

The Guthman 2019 shortlist included one of the most expressive performance apps I've seen on an iPad - Geoshred...

...and a MIDI staff.

Staff for me. The Karlax is just, cool. Way more advanced than this.
Re: Karlax (new bizarre looking controller)
Yet another solution looking for a problem.
I’ve heard nothing that can’t be done with existing technology.
Alternative controllers, it’s always the same, just another gimmick.

We've done this. It's about inspiration.
Re: Karlax (new bizarre looking controller)
Totally!
Although to be fair practicing scales etc was never my strong point so alternative controllers helped my getting the ideas in my head out.
Anything that combines inspiration & fun = sign me up (if I can afford it.)
