I remember these from school in the 1970s.

Nice history writeup at Voodoo Guitar and the multiple orangeamps.com history pages the link points to.

"Orange amps and cabs are everywhere!"

I've just been into the kitchen for another coffee, then I went down the path to get the bin and put it behind the studio. I looked in through the studio windows and in at the post-prod room and I haven't seen a single one of them!

In fact yesterday I was in Lidl's and Tesco and I didn't see a single Orage amp anywhere!

I think the price dictates that you have to go to Waitrose.

Orange gear had a unique look that was cool at the time, and managed to remain stylish without straying into tacky territory.

Despite fashions changing remarkably since then, I think they still have a cool look, presumably down to a good original designer

I have never been a fan of Orange amps, personally, though I do like some of the later (C1990) Matamp offerings.

Matamp are still going strong. A Matamp GT40 is on my shopping list for after I get my kids through their degrees.

Instant gratification is actually pretty good. It's fast as well.

I don't have a requirement for one of their big amps these days, but I did buy one of their Little Rock heads quite a long time ago. It is a great little recording amp.

I see it as a community-building exercise. After two or three hours of hearing me practice three- note voicings, the neighbors will come and introduce themselves.

That's public spirited! You should stand for election.
