I can hear delay and a filter sweep but I can't even come close to the patch. Since you guys nailed my last question I thought I'd come here and ask again.

Re: Deadmau5 opening chord
Probably something like a simple Sylenth EDM synth, with some delay, compression, distortion and EQ/filtering.
Honestly, these things get processed and changed so much with FX, that identifying the source synth is like picking out what kind of eggs were used in your birthday cake... The exact source sound is not nearly as significant as the processing and the arrangement in the track...

Re: Deadmau5 opening chord
So trying to recreate it would probably be fruitless?

Re: Deadmau5 opening chord
Not fruitless, but remember, when doing the synth part, you're not trying to make the synth part you are hearing, you are trying to make the synth part that *when processed with a bunch of FX*, sounds like what you are hearing.
All too often people get stuck as they are trying to use a synth to recreate a part that requires other components.

Re: Deadmau5 opening chord
Not starting another thread because I ask so many questions but if anyone can figure out how the baseline to this I'd be stoked. I know it's something to do with an envelope and/or LFO opening and closing the filter but I'm stumped.
Here's the tune: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=V2upTzAFQrk the bass first comes in at 2:24 plus I can't figure out the notes either because I suck at this apparently

Re: Deadmau5 opening chord
running an lfo to the filter's resonance and cut off with a retrigger on the lfo are as close as I can get.

Re: Deadmau5 opening chord
Just a random bass patch and careless timing in this demo, but I think the notes are something like this...(slowed down, then full speed).

There are some variations thrown in though, with some fast volleys of repeated notes. (Helps to choose half-speed or 3/4 -speed playback in the settings on YouTube.)

Re: Deadmau5 opening chord
If key is F# then the basic pattern sounds like:
G# F# D# C# D# G#
G# F# D# C# C# (octave up)
G# F# D# C# D# G#
G# F# D# C# F#
G# F# D# C# D# G#
G# F# D# C# C# (octave up)
G# F# D# C# D# G#
G# F# D# C# F#
