Distorted and robotic audio after using Voicemeter into Adobe Audition

I was recording a podcast using dual USB microphones.

I used Voicemeter as a virtual input device into Adobe Audition in order to use 2 USB microphones.

The first half of the audio is fine but the second half is completely destroyed (40 mins of content)

I was wonder is there any way to fix this. I have already ran a deClipper on the audio and it helped about 10%.

The effect sounds similar to when you modulate a voice into a robot voice. I wonder if there was a way to demodulate the audio so it sounds somewhat normal.

To my ears, this sounds more like a word clock issue than pure distortion / modulation.

Basically, you have 2 digital audio devices which are free running with no common 'clock' to syncronise the audio. You PC will make a good estimate of when the data packets in the stream are starting and stopping, but without correct word clock (which says when each 'word' or data starts), it can't get them to line up correctly. And you get nasty artifacts in the audio.

Basically, you've lost the podcast - sorry. I don't know of anything that can fix that.

Incidentally, is there any way to automate parameters of built-in effects in Audition, and ideally, assign a MIDI mixer to these parameters? I really like the delay and echo.

I'm glad that was an option. I concur with Dave, there really was no way of salvaging the original recording.
